Historically, Xiaomi has been a consistent contender to launch the first phones with next-generation Qualcomm silicon. It took the lead again by announcing its Mi 11 series of phones complete with the Snapdragon 888 in China last year. With that new engine comes a cavalry of other upgrades, and now, the phone is also available in international markets.

This year’s Galaxy S21 phones aren’t the sort of big overhaul that the S20 line was, but they still bring some pretty noteworthy upgrades to the table. Samsung appears more open to experimenting with features this time around, and even carries forward some lessons it learned from the Note20 series. In ways like this, the Galaxy S21 is very much the sort of strong, iterative upgrade we had hoped for, as should become abundantly clear as we look at some of its stand-out features.
Xiaomi is known for its affordable but powerful handsets, but the company also loves to push the boundaries of what's possible with its concept phones. It introduced the Mi Mix Alpha in 2019 with a wrap-around screen, only interrupted by a small strip with the camera. And today, the company is back with another interesting concept sporting a quad-curved waterfall display — i.e., tons of space for accidental touch input.
We've just learned that Boss Team Games will be bringing an all-new Cobra Kai fighting game to mobile. It's called Cobra Kai: Card Fighter, and as you can guess, it's a card-based fighting game. It's being developed by Gamaga and is already available for pre-registration. The game will be free-to-play (as if there was any question), and it will be officially released on March 19th.
It's official. Humble Games will be bringing Slay the Spire to Android on February 3rd, which is only a few days away. The game was initially released in early access back in 2017 for PC, and then was officially launched on PC and consoles in 2019, and last year the game made its way to iOS, and now it's clear Android users will soon be able to get in on the fun. If you're unfamiliar with the title, it's a roguelike deck builder where you'll use your cards to battle enemies as you make your way up the spire in an effort to reach the top.
HMD Global, with its Nokia brand, is one of the only mainstream companies that still offer Android Go smartphones. Further expanding its lineup is the latest Nokia 1.4, which brings a seemingly decent experience without costing an arm and a leg.
Last year, a significant number of Galaxy S20 series device owners weren't happy to find the glass covering their rear cameras destroyed without much provocation. This year, the S21 phones come with a metal-reinforced housing and smaller, individual covers featuring Corning's new Gorilla Glass Victor. So, does the new get-up actually stand up to drop tests?
From the new Apple M1 powered Macs to the Microsoft Surface Pro X I've been using, ARM-based computers are the new craze in mobile computing. The Surface Pro X was Microsoft's second big consumer push to get into the ARM platform and it really nails the essentials. Microsoft provides a fast and stable Windows on ARM experience, which is impressive despite the underpowered hardware on Microsoft’s latest SQ2-based machine. At the same time, some important features are missing while we wait for proper 64-bit emulation to arrive. That makes the price harder to swallow, but I've still really liked using the Surface Pro X.
