AT&T Galaxy S7 and S7 edge now receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update

AT&T has become the first US carrier to roll Android 8.0 Oreo out to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. We'd thought it would be Verizon, but Big Red has now pulled its S7 Oreo changelog down twice. AT&T, however, is cutting to the chase by actually releasing the update and skipping this support page nonsense.

[Update: Maybe not] Samsung may be using Wear OS for its upcoming smartwatches instead of Tizen

Those of you who follow Samsung closely may have noticed that devices running Android or Android-based OSes (e.g. Galaxy S9, Galaxy J7, Galaxy Gear) all have the "Galaxy" in their name for the most part, whereas those that run Tizen/other software (e.g. Gear Fit, Gear S3, Z4) don't. You can imagine our confusion, then, when it was revealed that Samsung filed trademark applications for the names "Galaxy Watch" and "Galaxy Fit." But with famed leaker Evan Blass's latest tweet, it seems like Samsung may actually be releasing a pair of Wear OS smartwatches.

Samsung announces 2018 Galaxy J3 and J7, available 'early June'

Samsung has announced sequels to last year's budget Galaxy J3 and J7 phones. This year's phones will go on sale "through select retail and carrier partners starting in early June and throughout the summer." Samsung didn't mention a price for either device; only that they'll be "affordable." Last year's J3 was $149.99, while the J7 was $219.99.

Linux app support arrives on the Samsung Chromebook Plus

Google officially announced Linux app support on Chrome OS at I/O 2018, but until now, the only supported model has been the Pixelbook. The Linux VM requires a kernel version that many Chromebooks don't have, but with Google backporting the required functionality to earlier kernels, we can only speculate which models will actually be supported.
