Linux on DeX is now compatible with Galaxy S9, S10, and Tab S5e

Linux on DeX, announced at a developer conference last year, is a program that lets you run Linux (Ubuntu, in this case) on your Samsung smartphone or tablet, turning it into a full-fledged computer. Initially, it only worked on the Galaxy Note 9 and Tab S4, but with today's update, both Galaxy S9 and S10 families are now supported (along with, for some reason, the mid-range Tab S5e).

The Galaxy S10 is getting night photo mode in new OTA

Google wowed everyone when it unveiled Night Sight photos alongside the Pixel 3. Many OEMs have since tried to replicate Google's witchcraft, but none have been able to match it. Samsung is the latest to try with an OTA on the Galaxy S10. You probably don't have the update yet, but it's coming.

The Samsung Galaxy S10+ has been noted to have reception issues on several carriers. The problem seems to be worse on Sprint, where not only the S10+, but also the S10 and S10e are having problems with LTE. Software updates having failed to fix the problem, the carrier will now replace affected phones.

Samsung's EdgeLighting+ update brings cutout "notification light"

With the Galaxy S10, Samsung aimed at designing a handset with a screen covering almost the entire front surface. While the final product is very close to achieving this goal, engineers had to get rid of superfluous elements to make the cutout as small as possible. As such, the LED indicator has been removed to make room for extra pixels, leaving many users frustrated and without a way to easily know they have notifications to look at. Sure, Always On Display can help alleviate this, but it's not as easy to see as a flashing light from afar.

We recently told you about Holey Light, a third-party app that puts an animated circle around the S10's cutout when you receive notifications.

Some Galaxy S10s updated with call/message continuity feature for Tab S5e

People kill for message continuity on their smartphones. After all, iMessage is a major reason why iPhones are so popular. Google released its own version of continuity for its Messages app last year with a web interface, and now some Galaxy S10 models are getting Samsung's version, which it creatively calls "Call & Message Continuity." However, it seems to only work with the Galaxy Tab S5e tablet right now.

Samsung releasing Galaxy S10/S10+ patch to improve fingerprint scanner performance

The Galaxy S10 is an excellent phone, but it's not without its faults. In fact, one of the headlining features isn't so good. Samsung's ultrasonic in-display sensor is often slow and inaccurate, and it's attempting to address that with a new firmware patch rolling out to devices. It's unclear if the sensor is actually any better, but at least Samsung is trying.

Anyone could unlock your Galaxy S10... if they can 3D-print your fingerprints

Most of us store almost our entire lives on our phones, and for that reason we want them to be secure. There are many ways to protect our data, including mere unlock patterns, passwords, and of course biometrics. While many trust the latter to be particularly safe, they can still be fooled. Indeed, we already know the S10's face unlock isn't particularly trustworthy, we thought its in-display fingerprint scanner to be foolproof, thanks to its ability to sense blood flow. However, a recent experiment proved the phone can be unlocked using 3D printed fingerprints, just like other handsets mistook fake heads for actual ones.

International Dual-SIM Galaxy S10e, S10, and S10+ are as low as $600

The Galaxy S10 was unveiled a month and a half ago, and we think it's one of the best phones on the market today. One of its drawbacks, though, is its price, which can reach $1,600 for the larger model. Thankfully, there are ways to pay less for Samsung's latest flagship, without having to buy a used or refurbished device. One option is to buy the international version on eBay, which lets you save about 20% on the S10e, S10, and S10+.
