Just over a week later, OnePlus is pushing out another Open Beta for the 5 and 5T. This one is not nearly as major as the last, instead focusing on camera improvements. Of course, the highlight here is the inclusion of Google Lens, which should excite some people.

The 5 worst things about the OnePlus 6

There's a lot to like about the OnePlus 6. It looks great, its got that genius alert slider, and it charges really fast. It isn't perfect, though; to hit an appropriately OnePlus price point, some corners invariably must be cut. Last month, we shared with you six things we liked about the OnePlus 6. Now, here are five things we don't.

OnePlus Gallery update adds video editing tools, lets you trim clips and mix in background music

The OnePlus 6 has more than a few advantages over the company's previous hardware, which is to be expected, given it's the latest model. But, a handful of the phone's smaller benefits are now trickling down to older handsets via an update to the OnePlus Gallery app. Rolling out now, the app update is bringing some of the OP6's video editing tools—including slow-motion video editing, background music, and general clipping/trimming—to older phones.

[Gallery] Red OnePlus 6 is a stunning example of why phones need more color options

OnePlus has developed a habit of releasing jazzed-up colors for its phones, including both red and white variants of last year's OnePlus 5T. But it's more than just a return to the theme, this new red color has a stunning degree of depth that photos and descriptions just can't do justice—though I'll try.

OnePlus posted a rubicund teaser late last week that, together with a slightly potato photo, implied we'd be seeing a carmine version of the company's 2018 flagship. A red OnePlus 6 is probably being announced on July 2nd

OnePlus has shared on Twitter a strange and colorful 15-second clip that's a pretty obvious indicator we'll be seeing a red variant of the OnePlus 6 in the near future. Aside from the very red video, the tweet also includes a hex color code: C61422, which translates to — you guessed it — red.

OnePlus is working on US carrier partnerships and a 5G-capable phone for next year

Early in the year, we'd heard that OnePlus was "investigating" potential deals that could be struck with US carriers. Additionally, a 5G-capable phone is said to be coming next year.

OnePlus Software Maintenance Schedule promises two years of software updates and three years of security patches

In the last few years, OnePlus has gotten serious about keeping its devices updated. While it can feel like stable OxygenOS releases take a while sometimes, the Open Beta program represents what OEMs should do: give those who are willing early access to new features, Android versions, and so on. Further attempting to bolster its positive reputation in this area, OnePlus released the Software Maintenance Schedule, which promises two years of software and three years of security releases for each device and it's already in effect.
