In a "finally" moment, Huawei announced that the Honor View10 is coming to the United States. Available today for pre-order from the Honor store, the View10 comes in either black or blue for $499.
As I said in my review a couple of months ago, this phone is great and a very worthy competitor to the OnePlus 5T. Now with the price official, I can safely say that this phone is worth the money — for $499, the Kirin 970-equipped View10 comes with fantastic battery life, a super fast fingerprint sensor, 128GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM, plus Project Treble. TeamWin Recovery Project, or TWRP for short, is an invaluable tool for anyone looking to mod their device - from installing ROMs to simply making backups. The last time we covered the project earlier this month, it had started supporting the Moto Z2 Force, Redmi 5A, and several other phones.
Since then, a few more devices have been added to the roster, including the Honor View10 and Mate 10 Pro. Read More
Now that Huawei's plans of selling phones on US carriers have fallen apart, the company appears to be trying something different - appealing to hardcore Android enthusiasts looking for inexpensive phones. OnePlus is easily the leader in that niche, after Google stopped selling its budget-friendly Nexus phones. The Honor View10 (Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei) is already targeting OnePlus, and now the company is helping community developers create ROMs, recoveries, and kernels. Read More
Huawei's been releasing Oreo betas for several of its phones, but we still haven't heard much about updates for Honor-branded devices. Now Huawei has published a list of all the devices that Oreo is being developed for. Oddly, the Honor 8 is mentioned in spite of a confirmation from Honor India on Twitter that the phone wouldn't be getting Oreo. Read More
The mid-range flagship market has been a heated place in the last few years, with OnePlus coming out on top and filling the void that was left by the Nexus phones (6 excluded). While it may be no shocker to anyone why this is, it also shouldn't be a surprise to see some of the big players in the world take notice of OnePlus' success in this space. Cue Hua-, er, Honor with the View10, a device aimed squarely at the 5T.
Until now, the View10 (also called the V10) was sold outside of the U.S. and therefore not really relevant in a competitive sense to us here in the States. Read More
Huawei’s cheaper sub-brand Honor held an event in London early December to announce the launch of not one but two new smartphones. Jordan has already reviewed the first of those, the Honor 7X, which impressed him as a contender to the Moto G5S Plus in the budget category. But Honor actually spent more time at the show talking about the View 10, its latest flagship device.
The View10 sports Huawei’s Kirin 970 chip, with a built-in neural processing unit that the company says can be used to learn your habits and improve your overall experience. Features of the moment such as face unlocking, an 18:9 screen, and dual cameras potentially make the View10 a compelling option in the affordable flagship category, where it slightly undercuts the OnePlus 5T at £449 in the UK (around $600).
