Like any other major word processor, Google Docs has offered spelling and grammar checks for some time. However, Google is now differentiating its own by adding machine translation-based grammar suggestions, basically going head-to-head with third-party services like Grammarly.

G Suite updates: Embeddable Google Drawings in Docs and more colorful graphs in Sheets

In an announcement that would have seemed at home in the year 1990, Google has announced that you can make a design element in your Sheets chart a unique color. For instance, in a bar graph where all the bars are blue, you can make one red (see above). Before you rush to your personal computing machine to try out that innovative new feature, though, note that there's another G Suite update coming as well. You can now embed a Google Drawings file into a Doc, and easily update the content of the linked drawing if and/or when it changes.

Google Calendar and Docs get expandable sidebar for quick access to other G Suite products

When the new Gmail arrived in April this year, it brought with it a quick-access side panel that integrated Calendar, Tasks, and Keep right into the email platform's interface. Now, that feature is coming to Google Docs editors and Google Calendar, as well. This means that you'll be able to access compact versions of Calendar, Keep, and Tasks from an expandable panel on the right-hand side of Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings. As for Google Calendar, you'll get just Keep and Tasks.

Google Calendar adds 'Propose a new time' option to meetings

Google Calendar is a pretty good way to manage your time, but since it's a core app in G Suite, "pretty good" isn't good enough. One of the many things potential meeting attendees might expect to be able to do in a business calendar app is suggest a different time, due to a conflict perhaps, but that hasn't been possible in Google Calendar up to now.
