We're back at it again, this time with a book that will make you master of the Honeycomb development domain. Having collaborated with O'Reilly, For Dummies, and informIT before, for this giveaway we've partnered up with a fourth publishing company, Packt Publishing.
Android 3.0 Application Development Cookbook
We're giving away three copies of Android 3.0 Application Development Cookbook by Kyle Merrifield Mew, and luckily for you, dear aspiring developer, entering the giveaway is quite simple. Read More
The 6th Android Police book giveaway is now over, and we've picked the winners. A copy of Android Application Development For Dummies will be shipped to each of the following readers, selected by For Dummies and Android Police, who answered this question:
Why should we pick you to be one of the 3 winners?
I personally do not feel I am worthy of this, but I talked to a psychic and she channeled her energy through my DroidX with CM7 and tells me that I will soon have a Droid Bionic and the Bionic told her that I deserve to write applications for it.
Warning About Copyrighted Images:
Guys, we're loving the responses for the contest so far, but we need to make something clear: we will not accept any entry that contains a copyrighted image or work - period.
We are serious about plagiarism, and if we find you've used an image without permission, your entry will be disqualified until the offending material is removed. Thanks!
Alright, we heard from a lot of you that social contests just aren't up your alley sometimes - so we've listened. Read More
Another week, another great giveaway - our 4th giant giveaway, featuring the 32GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, has beat all past records yet again, with over 7,000 entries via Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. Most people entered using Facebook this time around, followed closely by Google+, and then Twitter. As we always do, we tried to make the giveaway accessible to as many countries all over the world as we could, adding a few more to our regular list. Read More
A bit over a week ago, we decided to do something different compared to our regular giveaways and launched a creative contest with the Otterbox Defender case for the XOOM tablet as the grand prize. In order to win, all you had to do was produce the best combination of a XOOM and a reference to Android Police in one picture.
Now that the contest is over and we've sorted through all the entries, I'm ready to announce the winner, unanimously selected by the Android Police team. Read More
The 5th Android Police book giveaway is now over, and we've picked the winners. A copy of Developing Android Applications with Adobe AIR will be shipped to each of the following readers, selected by O'Reilly and Android Police, who answered this question:
Why do you think developers should build their apps with Adobe AIR instead of using a conventional approach?
I've long thought AIR made sense as a mobile development platform due to its ease of development and cross-platform potential.
In the 6th weekly giveaway of Android books, Android Police has partnered with yet another great publishing company that I'm sure everyone has heard of before - For Dummies. Don't worry, O'Reilly and informIT fans, we'll continue giving out their books as well, switching between all 3 companies as we go along.
Android Application Development For Dummies
Today, we're giving away Android Application Development For Dummies, published in December 2010, and, as usual, we're asking for nothing but a minute of your time in return. Read More
In the past few months, we have been giving away various devices in what I dubbed the "Giant Giveaway" series. Despite having given away 3 tablets (the XOOM, the G-Slate, and the Tab 10.1) already, we're not planning on slowing down; in fact, we're going to accelerate the giveaway process. Rather than keep the giveaways open for 2 weeks, we're going to run them for only about 5-7 days instead, as otherwise our shelves will collapse under the weight of all the goodies and ruin them, and we don't want that, do we? Motorola XOOM owners, listen up. Rather than keeping my XOOM protected with the very rugged Defender case from Otterbox that I reviewed last month, I'm going to give it away to one of you, as you probably need it more than me.
Otterbox is one of the top brands in the case business, and I'm sure this $90 shell that can withstand a nuclear attack will find a nice home. Read More
Wow, what a week it has been! Our 3rd giant giveaway, featuring the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, has blown the lids off all other promotions we've done in the past, with over 6,000 entries via Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. Google+ users really kicked this up a notch this time around, as the new network absolutely exploded in its first week of existence, already driving more traffic to the site than Twitter and Facebook combined.
