[Hands-On] Yodlee Introduces MoneyCenter App For Android ($3.99), And It's The First App I Refunded In A Long While

Yodlee (Wikipedia), the pioneer of personal financial management software - the one that used to power Mint.com and still powers hundreds of large banking sites - released a long-awaited Android app for its own MoneyCenter service today. I've been a Yodlee user for many years, and when I saw it released to the Market a few hours ago, I didn't hesitate a moment and immediately bought it.

If you haven't heard about personal financial management, and Yodlee in particular, it is an online aggregator of financial accounts that uses your logins to banks, credit cards, rewards, airlines, mortgages, and so on, and combines them all into one easy to read, search, and navigate location on the web that automatically updates behind the scenes.

Quick Tip: Want To Search Using The Android Market App? Save Precious Seconds And Press The Search Button Right Away

The title pretty much says it all, but I'll explain this quick tip in a bit more detail. All too often I want to jump into the Market on my phone and search for an app I already have in mind. However, before the search box even appears, I am forced to wait for the featured app screen to finish loading, which on slow connections can take ages.

So, rather than wait for it, just jump straight into action by pressing the hardware Search button.

Words With Friends Gets Updated, Now Optimized For Honeycomb Tablets

Exactly one week ago we told you that Words With Friends dropped Honeycomb support. At the time, there was little explanation as to what happened (even Zynga support staff was completely clueless), but things are starting to make a bit more sense now (albeit not much).

Zynga pushed an update to Words With Friends today that brought something new to the table: full Honeycomb support. I'm still not entirely sure why they decided to drop Honeycomb support for one week - but it doesn't really matter now, as WWF is now fully playable on your Android-powered tablet.

[New App] Last.FM Releases 'Festivals', Looks To Be In Your Pocket While You're In The Mosh Pit

I've used Last.fm for a couple of years now, logging (or, in their terminology, "scrobbling") over 58,000 tracks as I listen to them. It's kind of your music player's "most played" list on steroids, as it's cross-compatible with everything.

Last.fm also works with local event listings, as well; they've just released a new app called "Festivals" that will hopefully find its way to music fans' phones everywhere.

Festivals works like a trip planner to make sure you get the most out of your festival experience.

[Review] Sports Tracker Keeps Track Of Your Mileage And Gives You The Support Network To Keep You Going

Phones are quickly adding "personal trainer" to the list of roles they can perform for their users. The potential for note-taking, record keeping and stat tracking is immense, as there's a good chance you won't forget your device when you go out for a run or hit the gym.

Sports Tracker works by letting the app use your phone's GPS signal to determine distance and speed travelled while doing activities like cycling, running, swimming or rowing.

[New Game] BackStab HD, Gameloft's Bloody Take On Assassin's Creed, Now Available In The Android Market

Gameloft's newest gaming title, BackStab HD, is available to users of high-end Android phones, the company announced minutes ago. Thankfully, the new title, which is a bloody (oh yes it is, just watch the video below), sword-bashing 3D game that reminds us of Assassin's Creed, is available in the Android Market for $6.99, honoring Gameloft's promise to deliver more games via our preferred channel as opposed to their own off-Market web store.

Apparatus Developer: "Amazon Appstore Is A Disaster"

You might have heard of the fun physics/Rube Goldberg machine game Apparatus. It's actually pretty popular, and quite well-loved - over 800 reviews on the Android Market putting it at an average score of 4.5. For a game, especially, that's a very difficult feat to accomplish. It goes without saying then, that the developer of Apparatus is very concerned with customer feedback and providing support for his application.

Recently, he decided to distribute Apparatus through the Amazon Appstore.
