Cyanogen OS 12.1 Begins Rolling Out To Yureka And Yureka Plus

Back in the early Gingerbread days, CyanogenMod provided geeks and tinkerers with a way of installing the most up-to-date Android version on virtually any device. It wasn't for everyone, but if you were willing to deal with a few bugs and instability issues, you could easily turn your phone into a quasi-Nexus device running stock-ish Android. Updates are a little slower now that commercial entity Cyanogen Inc. is supporting devices, but two of those phones — the Yureka and Yureka Plus — are being updated to Cyanogen OS 12.1, which is based on Android Lollipop 5.1.

Yu Yureka Plus To Launch In India July 24th For 9,999 INR With A 1080p Display, New Camera, And Cyanogen OS 12

After launching its first phone in India at the end of last year, Micromax subsidiary Yu is now ready to follow up with the ever-so-slightly upgraded and pricier Yu Yureka Plus. Like last time, this handset ships running the latest version of Cyanogen OS.


What's new? Not much. The phone still comes with a Snapgragon 615 processor and 2GB of RAM. The excitement comes from the higher-resolution 1080p display, up from the previous model's 720p. With the screen still 5.5 inches in size, it amounts to a noticeably high pixel density. Though that may be less of a thrill when you consider that the battery capacity remains the same at 2500mAh.
