Not everyone needs a full-fledged smartwatch. Options like the Galaxy Watch4 are great if you want a proper companion to your smartphone, but if fitness tracking capabilities are all you need, then a fitness band might suit you a lot better. They're notably more basic in design and features, but they're also way cheaper. Xiaomi's Mi Band lineup makes for some great options, competing directly with the likes of Fitbit. The latest entry, the Mi Band 6, launched last year, and thanks to a new leak, we now have some info on what its successor might look like.

Xiaomi has long made a name for itself in the wearable market and is, in fact, the leading wearable brand worldwide according to Canalys. That's in part thanks to its excellent Mi Smart Band fitness trackers, which have always been praised as affordable but capable alternatives to Fitbit and others. But so far, Xiaomi has never blessed most of its international audience with an NFC-equipped version of its fitness tracker. That's changing today, as the company has announced that it's bringing the Mi Smart Band 6 with NFC to Europe.

Xiaomi made a name for itself in the budget phone market, but the company has also made a big push into wearables. Xiaomi's affordable but capable Mi Band series (actually made by certified partner Huami) has always been a prime example of making great products that don’t break the bank. The latest iteration, the Mi Band 6, is a considerable step up, both in price and in functionality. The question that begs to be answered — is it still worth buying at $60?

Xiaomi's Mi Bands have always been among the most affordable options when it comes to activity tracking, offering quite some bang for the buck. It looks like the prospective next entry to the line, the Mi Band 6, will continue that trend. Renounced Mi Band and Huami leaker Magical Unicorn reports on their new website that we can expect some interface overhauls, more trackable activities, and maybe even SpO2 and on-board GPS.
