It's not just Android P getting an update today. An update is rolling out to the Wear OS app in Google Play. It'll add a handful of minor changes to your watch, which is more than you usually get from the app updates.

Samsung accidentally outs unannounced 'Galaxy Watch' on its website

We've watched with moderate interest as the rumors swirl around Samsung's upcoming smartwatch release. Will it run Wear OS? Will it run Tizen? We still don't know, but we can now be fairly sure what the Galaxy Watch looks like. Samsung appears to have added a listing for the device on its website ahead of the announcement.

Samsung Galaxy Watch rumored to run Tizen after all, go on sale on August 24 (Updated)

What comes after 2016’s Samsung Gear S3 and last year’s not-exactly-a-sequel Gear Sport, both of which run the company’s Tizen OS? Why, the Galaxy Watch, of course, because names are fun. But if you were expecting someone else besides Armani, Hublot, Skagen and the rest of the traditional fashion brand horde to join Google in trying to save Wear OS, odds are you will have to wait a little while longer.

Wear OS app v2.14 will add a shortcut to block app notifications [APK Teardown]

While you can run apps on Wear OS, the main reason for it to exist is to serve notifications. But for as much as notifications are useful, too many can be counterproductive. If you're finding that one or more of your apps is getting too noisy, but you're not quite ready to shut down notifications altogether, one good solution is to block those notifications from reaching your watch. Soon, you'll be able to access the settings screen to configure blocked apps by using a launcher shortcut.

Armani announces next generation Connected Wear OS smartwatch

If you don't entirely keep track of all the designer labels and their various smartwatch releases (like me), you may not have been aware of the Emporio Armani Connected Wear OS device. Well, now we know, and just in time to learn about the latest watch from the Italian fashion house.

The new generation Connected watch features a 1.19" AMOLED display and the same aging Snapdragon 2100 chip as the TicWatch Pro I recently reviewed. Like that device, the new Armani watch will use the Tic Health app and Mobvoi's app store in China, although it's made by Fossil Group.

Facer introduces watch face games to help you kill time (and your smartwatch's battery life)

A day or two of uptime for a smartwatch is accepted as the norm these days — a sad state of affairs, indeed. So when a nifty feature is introduced, excitement is immediately doused with the reality that it almost certainly means conceding some already-scanty battery life. Facer recently announced watch face games for Wear OS and Tizen smartwatches, and they seem like a clever take on uber-casual gaming worth your while if you're fine keeping that charger nearby.

Spotify Lite unofficially ported to Wear OS

Android Wear 2.0 was supposed to usher in a wave of smartwatch applications that could run independently from a connected phone... but that didn't really happen. Most popular Wear OS apps still rely on a Bluetooth connection with your phone, including the official Spotify application. Thankfully, there's now a full-featured Spotify client for Wear OS, courtesy of moneytoo on the XDA Forums.

'Galaxy Watch' name confirmed for upcoming Samsung watch, will reportedly come with Bixby

We've been hearing quite a bit about Samsung's Gear S3 replacement, which has yet to be announced. Most recently, we'd heard that the watch, dubbed 'Galaxy Watch,' would come with Wear OS and a blood pressure monitor. That 'Galaxy Watch' moniker has now been confirmed by an official Samsung filing, and SamMobile is reporting that Bixby will be on board.

TicWatch Pro now available - offers 5-30 days battery life, Wear OS, 'Layered Display' technology

It's been a while since there's been any excitement surrounding Wear OS, the artist formally known as Android Wear, with no notable recent hardware releases outside of expensive fashion products. The OS itself is feeling dated and has arguably never really been fit for purpose; the platform really needs some attention from Google if it's to escape a slow, boring death.

Peering through all the doom and gloom, however, Google-backed Mobvoi is launching a follow up to its well-received, affordable S and E smartwatches. Both the Sport and Express were sub-$200 models made from plastic and rubber, but the TicWatch Pro we first heard about in May is a different proposition.
