Oppo's new 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 promises a full charge in thirty minutes

Earlier today, smartphone maker Oppo announced three new charging technologies it plans on using in upcoming products: a 30W VOOC 4.0, Wireless VOOC Flash Charge at 30W, and a tremendous 65W SuperVOOC 2.0. If history is any indicator, we'll probably see them licensed to companies like OnePlus for even faster "Warp" charging in the future.

OnePlus says Dash Charge binary for ROM builders will be released by end of July

OnePlus managed to integrate a fast charging solution into the OnePlus 3, but it's a non-standard one called Dash Charge. It's a licensed version of Oppo's VOOC, so it requires special code on the device and hardware in the adapter. Some OP fans were bummed that custom ROMs would not be able to support Dash Charge, but that will change next month when OP releases the code.

OnePlus announced the OnePlus 3 earlier today with a number of important improvements over last year's model. One of the more exciting is the inclusion of fast charging, which OnePlus calls Dash Charge. However, the company notes that Dash Charge is dependent on special hardware in the adapter itself. We've checked with OP, and that means you'll have to use the included hardware if you want fast charging.

Do you like Qualcomm's Quick Charge? Are you impatiently waiting for all devices and accessories to be compatible with Quick Charge 3.0? Then OPPO is about to rain on your parade with its Super VOOC technology. And I mean really rain.

Announced and demoed at MWC, Super VOOC is the evolution of OPPO's VOOC (yeah, they like capitalizing things) fast charging technology. It uses a new low-voltage pulse-charge system, a new dynamic algorithm for current regulation, and a new customized battery. The charger, adapter, and cable connector have also been upgraded to use military-grade materials. The end result is a setup capable of fully charging a 2500mAh battery in an OPPO phone in 15 minutes.
