Hello Android Police readers, here is your host with an important announcement: Valentine's Day is only two days away. For the forgetful ones among you who like to celebrate the occasion, that means there's just enough time to catch up and plan a good surprise or get a decent gift. To further help you with your romantic endeavors, Google has added a few special commands to Assistant — no, we're not talking about "Hey Google, play Get Lucky," even if that might work too.

Yesterday night, many people woke up to strange text messages from friends, family, ex-partners, and even deceased ones originally sent on February 14, 2019 that never reached them before. Among some ensuing upbeat and fun conversations, there were also upsets and heartbreaks. The issue seems to stem from a misconfigured system in use across all major US carriers and some Canadian providers, affecting any mobile OS and even Google Voice.

Companies will use any holiday as an excuse to run a sale, and Google is no exception. For Valentine's Day, it's offering a $1 promo code for any app and game... so long as it costs over $3. Think of this less as a free dollar, and more as a free <33% discount.

Today is Valentine's Day, and whether you are single or in a relationship, everyone loves the hilarious e-cards that are posted everywhere around this time of year. Last year we had some fun making Android-themed cards, and this year, we've got more for you.

Google Playground's stickers and Playmojis are pretty fun, and the timely Childish Gambino drop likely brought more attention to the Pixel's AR features. It makes sense, then, that Valentine's Day arrives with another new pack, predictably all pink and heart-shaped.

As florists, chocolate makers, and greeting card companies alike gear up for one of the biggest sales days of the year — Valentine's Day — tech companies are preparing their own festive offerings for the sentimental celebration. This year, Google Duo is offering a Valentine's Day video effect for long-distance loves, and it's already showing up for many users.

An update to Google's Duo app began rolling out earlier today, and unlike many other recent app updates, there's actually a brand new feature that doesn't appear to be locked behind a server-side switch. Unfortunately, it also appears that it may not be working properly, and might have been left enabled by accident. Duo is also preparing a special video effect in honor of Valentine's Day.

Today is Valentine's Day, and whether you are single or in a relationship, everyone loves the hilarious e-cards that spread across social networks this time of year. What better way to mark the occasion than making our own Android-themed cards? For your enjoyment, we made 10 love cards poking fun at Android phones and the people/companies behind them:

T-Mobile is sweetening its ONE plan this Valentine's by offering a free line of service when you add a new one to an existing family plan or start a new one. That may sound slightly confusing, but what it really boils down to is that you can get a T-Mobile ONE plan with 4 lines for $35 per line (that's $140 total), instead of the usual $40. T-Mobile's ONE plan already comes with unlimited 4G data (deprioritized at >50 GB), tethering, data roaming in 140+ countries, and a standard Netflix subscription.

Valentine's Day is coming up soon, and that apparently means it's time for phone sales... who knew. Anyhow, Lenovorola will take $150 off the price of a brand new Moto Z2 Play starting on Sunday, February 4. That means you would only have to pay $349.99, which isn't too bad.

As you probably know by now, Google has a tradition of changing the Google logo for various events, holidays, and birthdays. This year, the logo is being changed every day leading up to Valentine's Day, with a mini-game for each one.

Love is in the air, love is all around me... sorry, that's Love Actually. Either way, it's Valentine's Day soon, and Niantic is getting into the spirit of things, with Pokémon GO having its first in-game event of 2017.

Whether you are going out tonight on an expensive date or you've prepared the most romantic night-in for your significant other, here's a small added gesture you can use to persuade them of how much you love them. Put this watch face up on your Android Wear, take a picture and send it to your partner. Tell them you're counting the minutes until you see them, and every time you glance at your watch, you're reminded of how your heart beats for them.* Cheesy. But isn't the entire "holiday" built around just that?

Motorola wants you to give your special someone one of its devices this Valentine's Day, so it's going to offer out promo codes worth $140 off your purchase of $499.99 (such as a new Moto X) or $50 off your purchase of $249.99 (a Moto 360).

Google's had fun creating new Auto-Awesome animations that match the theme of every holiday season these days, but this latest one is rather amusing. For Valentines Day, Google has rolled out animated hearts that will automatically appear on any photos of people kissing. This can add a little extra spark to that loving picture of you and that special someone. As usual, the animation may not appear immediately, but Google+ will shoot you a notification when it's ready.

"Hi, honey. Sorry I'm late I-...Yes, I know I didn't call. I-...Well, my battery died. Nothing I can do about that, bab-...*sigh* Yes, you're right. I should've listened to you when you told me to get the RAZR MAXX HD. As usual, you were right and I was wrong and next time I'll be sure to do exactly as you say without-... I am not taking a tone with you! ...Well, what do you want me to say? ...Fine. Whatever. Love you."

Love is fun everywhere. This is the audacious claim that Bandai is peddling with its new app "Tamagotchi L.i.f.e." And yes, that is what the acronym actually stands for. If you're of the opinion that love might only be fun in certain places, then I challenge you to download this virtual pet to your phone. This thorough recreation of the pocketable pals of the late 90s will teach you how to love again as you lovingly scoop its loving poop and let it win games, lest it gets lovingly mad at you. Love.

Around the offices of Android Police, we go through a lot of apps. We're talking hundreds or even thousands every week, to bring you the best in our app and game roundups or (if they're good enough) individual posts. Before every major holiday, we are inundated with more themed applications than we know what to do with. And to be honest, most of them are terrible. But we've found four Valentine's apps that are bearable, even interesting. So put on your white sportcoat and pink carnation and download a few, if the holiday spirit moves you.

It's time to call up the DROID RAZR M family and congratulate it on a new, slightly much girlier addition. Minutes ago, Verizon Wireless put up the bright pink Valentine's Day-themed variant of the 4.3" Jelly Bean-sporting device for sale on its website.

T-Mobile is evidently planning a huge sale in celebration of Valentine's day, offering all phones (plus the Springboard tablet and G-Slate) free for one day only this Saturday, February 11th. The deal will apply to current and new customers with Value or Classic Plans. Customers looking to take advantage of the sale will need to pay the 2-year subsidy, and will receive a full reimbursement via mail-in rebate card.
