Anker is running a decent little sale over on Amazon. Right now you can pick up a six-foot durable braided USB-C cable for just $10, a 20,000mAh battery for $41.99, a USB-C mini-dock with 2 USB, 4KHDMI, SD Card slot, and Ethernet for $62.99, and a tiny cubic Bluetooth speaker for $16.59.
More and more of us are getting devices that use USB-C cables for charging and data transfer every day. That means your stash of microUSB cables compiled over the years will do you no good when it comes to the various "charging stations" you might have set up at home and work.
If you can relate, this giveaway is for you. Each of the 28 winners will get 4 (!) 6-foot long, braided cables from Brexlink. Read More
The USB Promoter Group has just announced the USB 3.2 spec update with one major change over USB 3.1: multi-lane operation on hosts and devices and thus double the bandwidth on existing SuperSpeed Type-C cables.
With USB 3.1, both hosts and devices were designed for single-lane use. The SuperSpeed cables, however, were designed with multi-lane in mind, but weren't able to make use of it because the devices they connected to on both ends didn't support it. Thanks to USB 3.2, upcoming certified hosts and devices will support multi-lane operation so existing cables can benefit from double the speed when connected to them. Read More

You know what's better than a deal? A triple deal. Amazon's Gold Box offers for today are all about SanDisk memory and in there are three nice deals for those of us with Android phones.
First is the Ultra 256GB MicroSDXC UHS-I card with adapter. While this isn't the new fancy U3 card, it's still plenty fast with transfer speeds up to 95MB/s. Last we saw it, it was down from $200 to $135 on Amazon, but it had once reached $120 at B&H in limited quantities. Now it's back again at that same price of $119.99 on Amazon, which is its cheapest at the retailer according to CamelCamelCamel. Read More

These particular units are originally $7.99, but through the magic of Slickdeals and the associated promo code (2YZPICHF) an extra $3.04 can be knocked off. And the difference between having $3 and needing $3 is $6, more than these cost on sale! See, you're making money. Read More
I admit that we're all pretty nerdy here at AP and we obsess over things that most people don't even consider. But we do it for all of you. One thing that some of us, especially Artem, want to know is how fast a particular charger/cable combination charges. Power meters were designed just for people like us, but I am here to show you what the folks at Satechi have cooked up. Read More
In its latest revision of the Android Compatibility Definition Document, Google has laid down some rather interesting rules not related to Android itself, but rather common device hardware. In the CDD, a new section has appeared that specifically relates to the USB Type C standard and charging - a subject that has become increasingly thorny with the proliferation of numerous proprietary fast charging standards.
While the section for now is labeled as "STRONGLY RECOMMENDED," Google is signaling clearly that it could become mandatory: "in future Android versions we might REQUIRE all type-C devices to support full interoperability with standard type-C chargers."
The section essentially boils down to this. Read More
Even in a world with Chromecasts and other streaming devices, it's often just easier to plug your phone directly into your TV with an HDMI cable and an adapter. Some people depend on this functionality quite a bit, and for those of you that do, it might not please you to hear that Google's Pixel smartphones will not support the company's own USB Type-C to HDMI adapter.
