Report: Android apps like TripAdvisor, Kayak, and Indeed shared data with Facebook without explicit consent

Facebook doesn't exactly have a pristine reputation, but on a certain level it's surprising nonetheless when a new scandal concerning the social media giant breaks out - after all, just how many more surprises can it manage? The answer, it turns out, is many. A new report put out by campaign group Privacy International found that 20 out of 34 popular Android apps send data to Facebook without asking for permission. This echoes the findings of a previous report on health and dating apps.

Google Play Music And TripAdvisor Team Up To Offer 2-Month Free Trial And Locale-Specific Playlists For Your Vacation

If you want to take in the sights and sounds of your destination while you vacation, Google and TripAdvisor have just the thing for you: playlists for popular travel spots on Play Music. And if you aren't yet a subscriber, those who download TripAdvisor now are eligible for a two-month free trial to Play Music's paid service.

To find a playlist, you don't have to do anything more than search for a city on TripAdvisor. A Play Music widget will appear with a music suggestion, if one exists.

["OK Google, Listen To NPR"] Custom Voice Actions Launch On Android, Allow You To Control Selected 3rd Party Apps

Over on the Android Developer's Google+ page an awesome new feature for Google's voice search was just announced. A small selection of applications will now open directly when using certain voice commands. For example, you can now say, "Ok Google, find houses near me on Zillow," and Google will automatically start the Zillow app, showing a map of properties near your current location (this also works with the applications for Trulia and Realtor.com). Previously a query like this would have directed you to Zillow's mobile site and given you a link to download Zillow's app.
