Following the release of the Thrive in July, Toshiba is now rumored to be working on a tablet that could compete with Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 by coupling a sleek, thin design with a large screen and Android Honeycomb while adding a handful of useful ports that the Tab 10.1 lacks.
Earlier today, an Italian tech blog Notebook Italia brought to light some renders of the alleged tablet killer (their words, not ours) that show a very attractive device featuring a profile as sleek as the Galaxy Tab, but with a microUSB port, microHDMI port, and a microSD slot, along with an interesting grooved frame and a slim black bezel around the 10.1" screen. The Toshiba Thrive showed up on our radars back at CES, though back then it was still known as "the nameless Toshiba tablet". The 10.1" tablet took pre-orders in June, and looked towards mid-July for a shipping date.

Well, whattya know! Remember Toshiba's Thrive tablet that has been hiding in the shadows for the last few months? As of late, there has been a lot of talk about Toshiba's upcoming-but-still-unannounced (in the US anyway) Android 3.0 tablet, but now things are starting to speed up. Toshiba has officially announced the "Regza" tablet - the Japanese version of the tablet that we're pretty sure will be called the Thrive. It sports the same specs that we've known about for a while now:

- 1GB RAM
- 16GB Internal storage, SD Card slot
- 5MP rear camera, 2MP front camera
- 10.1 inch, 1280x800 display
- HDMI, miniUSB, and USB ports
It also includes a feature called Regza App Connect, which links the tablet up to other Regza devices. Read More
