Mobvoi releases upgraded TicWatch C2+ with double the RAM and two included straps

But still with the same aging Wear 2100 chipset, unfortunately

The TicWatch C2 was announced all the way back in December 2018, but it remains the most attractive smartwatch Mobvoi has produced (if you ask me). An updated C2+ has just been launched with the same design and almost identical specs, except for the memory which has been doubled to a whole 1GB. It also comes with a pair of straps in the box, this time around — one silicone and one leather.Disappointingly, the C2+ is still saddled with Qualcomm's sluggish Wear 2100 processor, even though its successor, the Wear 3100, was available even before the launch of the original TicWatch C2. It also runs Google's Wear OS, which is a problem in itself. While the additional RAM is sure to help with performance, I wouldn't expect huge gains given the lack of other meaningful spec improvements. The C2+ has the same 1.3-inch AMOLED display (360 x 360p), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS + Beidou for location, and NFC for use with Google Pay.

With regards to the wearables market, manufacturers have come and gone, but a few have been consistently delivered some pretty good hardware. Mobvoi has earned quite a few fans for creating some really good watches and earbuds while keeping prices more accessible than many competitors. Of course, there's still room to discount them even further for Black Friday!Mobvoi's discounts will expire tonight, so you should plan to pull the trigger sooner rather than later. The majority are smartwatches with a pretty decent 25% off discount, but you'll also find the TicPods Free discounted at a pretty bewildering 62% off.

Amazon Prime Day is still chugging along for the next day or so, so maybe you're still finding something worthwhile to buy. Maybe you'd like to cover up your wrist with something smart? How about a Ticwatch? Mobvoi has discounted its Wear OS smartwatches by 30% for the big sitewide sale and there are pretty decent timepieces to scavenge from here.

TeamWin Recovery Project, better known as TWRP, is the best custom recovery available for Android. It works on a wide range of devices, can backup/restore data, can flash ROMs, and more. Since the last time we covered TWRP, the project has added support for seven more devices.

The TicWatch Pro is a pretty good smartwatch, as much as any SD Wear 2100 watch running Wear OS can be, anyway. One complaint about it was that you were forced to use Mobvoi's own health app as the default swipe left screen in Wear 2.0 (to the right of your watchface), but that's thankfully no longer the case.

Chinese AI company Mobvoi hosted an event in London today, in part to raise awareness for digital wellbeing, but mainly to make two announcements. The TicPods Free true wireless earbuds that we first heard about in April are now on general sale, but the main attraction is the brand new TicWatch C2.The timepiece is a spiritual successor to the original TicWatch (C2 stands for Classic 2), except this time it runs Wear OS by Google. It features a 1.3" AMOLED (360x360) display with a stainless steel case (rose gold, black, and platinum) and genuine leather strap (20mm or 18mm). The rose gold model is the thinnest Mobvoi has made at 12.80mm. It includes a heart rate monitor, GPS (+ GLONASS + Beidou), accelerometer, gyroscope, and NFC, plus it's also IP68 rated.
