After TikTok, India considers banning PUBG, AliExpress, and hundreds more

Last month, India made the call of banning a total of 59 Chinese-origin apps after the tension between the two bordering nations escalated. As a result, TikTok, which had amassed over 200 million users in the country, was taken down, along with other popular apps like CamScanner, Shareit, and UC Browser. Incoming reports say that the South Asian nation has now banned 47 more apps, while some 275 additional apps, including PUBG and AliExpress, are also being considered for a similar ban.

Tencent is bringing a new Metal Slug game to mobile, and it actually looks decent

SNK and Tencent recently announced a new Metal Slug game for mobile, and it will be developer by TiMi Studios, an incredibly hot Tencent subsidiary that worked on Call of Duty Mobile, and is also currently working on Pokémon Unite. So far we know that the upcoming arcade shooter is tentatively named Metal Slug Code: J (as a placeholder), and so all we have to share right now is a teaser trailer that contains a minute of pure gameplay, and despite what you're thinking, Metal Slug Code: J actually looks like a competent successor in the Metal Slug series.

You can already find the first two titles in the Don't Starve survival series on the Google Play Store, and both of these ports were published by the original developer Klei Entertainment. Well, it would appear that Klei has granted Tencent access to the property to create a new mobile game built from the ground up for mobile. Currently, Tencent is offering a closed beta sign-up for the game, which will enter into testing this July. So if you'd like to take an early look at Don't Starve: Newhome, make sure to register for beta access on the official webpage.

Pokémon Unite is a new MOBA coming to Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch

The Official Pokémon YouTube channel has announced a new Pokémon game for Android, iOS, and the Nintendo Switch. It's called Pokémon Unite, and it's a MOBA. As you would expect, you'll be tasked with collecting Pokémon as part of the MOBA's team-based online-multiplayer battle arena gameplay. Unsurprisingly, Pokémon Unite is being developed in partnership with Tencent, so I fully expect the game to land as a blatant cash grab, just like Pokémon Café Mix. Clearly, The Pokemon Company is intent on running this franchise through the mud, just so long as it can make a quick buck with lazy clones on mobile.

Spyjinx is an upcoming espionage game from Epic and Bad Robot

Epic Games has teamed up with the gaming division of Bad Robot (a studio created in partnership with Tencent) to create a mobile game set in a secret world of espionage called Spyjinx. The title was originally announced back in 2015 (yes, you read that right), and was supposed to enter into a beta in 2016. Clearly, that never happened (even the social media for this game went silent for four years), though it would appear the two studios haven't abandoned the game since Epic recently published an overview of the title while announcing a beta test for iOS.

[Update: Even more specs] ASUS ROG Phone 2 confirmed to have 120Hz display, Snapdragon 855 Plus

In the gaming world, displays with higher refresh rates are coveted. Last year's ASUS ROG Phone came with a 90Hz display, so we're not all that surprised to see confirmation that the ROG Phone 2 will have a 120Hz unit. This beats out the OnePlus 7 Pro's 90Hz and matches the Razer Phone 2's rate.
