When Sony announced its newest tablet last week at IFA, the Xperia Tablet S, we wondered how they'd price the device. It didn't take long before we learned that info, and as expected, it was priced out of the market. At $399 for the 16GB version, $499 for the 32GB, and $599 for the 64GB version, it was clear that Sony didn't take into consideration the competition.
Today, in an interview with Reuters, an executive VP with Sony, Kunimasa Suzuki, verified exactly that to be true.
If you own an Xperia phone or Sony's Tablet S, then you're finally going to get a treat before the others do. The Tiny Bang Story is a game centered around the inhabitants of Tiny Planet. An asteroid did a number on this planet, and now it's in shambles. Fortunately, you don't need cheap labor to rebuild. Just some solid problem solving skills.
Update: The exclusivity period will last until August 5 2012.
Pay attention to the name Dan Rosenberg, it's one that you're going to want to know for the future. He's the guy who brought us root for the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet, and now he's back with a root method for the Sony Tablet S. His blog post on how he figured out the exploit is an absolutely fascinating read, albeit quite technical. Even if you don't understand the post in its entirety, you can still appreciate the genius at work to construct such a clever exploit.

We've seen the Sony S1 tablet randomly show up over the last several months, showing off everything from its unique form factor to custom interface. Some formerly missing details have now surfaced that suggest we could see this tablet hit the market sometime within the first two weeks of September, which falls right in line with previous rumors that pre-orders would begin in the UK on September 1st.
The S1's official retail name has also came to light today, and it will be known simply as "Tablet S."
