[Update: Complete list] Google Maps speed camera alerts and speed limit indication expand to more countries

When Google bought Waze in 2013, a lot of people expected some of the application's key features would make their way into Maps. Although the company stated both development teams would remain separate, we started seeing some integration a few months later, as the Israeli company's traffic and incident reports were available to Maps users. Many of us also wanted Google's navigation software to get Waze-like alerts when passing by a speed camera, and while the wait lasted for a while, some users started seeing the feature back in January. It seems Google is now rolling it out internationally, as people around the world see these warnings on their phones.

Speed trap icons and vocal warnings are rolling out on Google Maps for some users

For the longest time, users have been bemoaning the lack of Waze-like reports on Google Maps, even though the two apps are technically part of the same company. Things started moving in the right direction when we spotted crash and speed trap reports in Google Maps in November, then again in December, though the feature hasn't rolled out to everyone yet and is still a little flighty in the way it works. Until now however, that meant only reporting something, and not seeing what others reported. But development is on track as one tipster let us know that he can now see speed traps on the map.
