Sonos Move 2 vs. Roam: Power or portability?
Sonos’ second-gen Move is built for power and performance, but how does it fare against the company’s most portable audio device?
When it comes to wireless audio, Sonos is one of the best audio companies you can buy speakers from. Over the years, the brand’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth peripherals have only gotten louder and stronger, and once battery power was introduced to the original Sonos Move, we could start taking our favorite Sonos gear camping, too. But now there’s a new Sonos Move in town, billed as the Sonos Move 2, and it’s supposed to rock even harder and last even longer than its predecessor. Does this mean there’s no place in the world for Sonos’ smaller battery-powered speaker, the Sonos Roam? Absolutely not.
Sonos announces a more affordable version of its Roam portable speaker
Lose the mic, but save some bucks
Last year, Sonos introduced its Roam portable speaker, and while we loved how it sounded, it was pretty pricey to start with — a situation that only got worse with a $10 post-launch hike the company blamed on the semiconductor shortage. Maybe to help atone for that, Sonos has now launched another version of the speaker that ditches the built-in mic and manages to shave off a few bucks in the process.
Apparently Sonos speakers weren't expensive enough already, so here are some 'helpful' price hikes
As in, helping you to spend more money
If you've tried to make a big purchase over the last year or so, you've probably noticed some severe fluctuations in the market. Thanks to a global chip shortage, everything from cars to gaming consoles are experiencing production issues, and Sonos is the next company to feel its effects.
Whether you're in a white boy summer or hot girl summer mindset, having a good quality Bluetooth speaker is a must. Sonos, as one of the biggest names in premium audio, has thrown its hat into the portable speaker ring with the Sonos Roam. This compact Bluetooth speaker brings all the great aspects of a Sonos audio system to a portable and fantastic-sounding form factor. It's close to being the ideal portable speaker, but a couple of shortcomings keep it from true greatness.
Sonos optimistically announces a $169 portable Bluetooth speaker
A high price, but plenty of features to justify it for Sonos fans
Sonos has just revealed its latest speaker, a new portable, Bluetooth-connected model called the Sonos Roam. But, if its $169 price tag didn't make that clear, this is more than just your typical bargain-basement Bluetooth speaker. In addition to the usual battery-powered wireless music experience you'd expect for the category, Sonos promises exceptional audio quality, plenty of features, and integration with the rest of the Sonos ecosystem for those already deeply invested in it.
