Lenovo's Smart Display has been discounted quite often as of late, but the deals are often restricted to members of a certain store or are only available in limited quantities. Several retailers are currently offering the 10" model for $149.99 and the 8" model for $99.99, meaning that both have had their prices cut by $100.

Google gives up on Android Things as an IoT platform, now will just be for smart speakers and displays

Google's operating system for lightweight Internet of Things devices, the fittingly-named Android Things OS, was originally intended to run on a wide array of hardware. It has seen the most success in Google Assistant-powered smart displays and speakers, and now that's the only product category Android Things will be certified for.

Hurry: Lenovo 10" Smart Display is just $99 (60% off) in-store at some Walmart locations

The larger 10-inch Lenovo Smart Display is currently marked down to $99 at certain Walmart stores. That's down from an original price of $250 and is a whole $51 lower than last week's $150 deal at Costco. While the Walmart website still lists it at $180, BrickSeek shows the discounted price. About half the locations around me show availability at $99, with units in stock. This deal may not last too long, though, so you'll want to rush to the nearest Walmart if you're interested in getting one.

A key feature of Smart Displays such as the Google Home Hub is that they can be used to help you prepare dinner by presenting hands-free, step-by-step recipes for you to follow. This is open to developers if they want to add their own actions, just like BuzzFeed's Tasty did recently. Now, Innit is getting in on the act.

Lenovo's Smart Clock is an adorably tiny display with Google Assistant

Amazon unveiled the clock-sized Echo Spot last year, as a smaller alternative to the Echo Show. We haven't seen any similarly-sized devices running Google's smart display platform, but Lenovo just unveiled something similar — the Smart Clock.

KitchenAid Smart Display has a 10" display, IPX5 rating, and Yummly

After seeing Google Assistant Smart Displays from Lenovo, JBL, LG, and Google, it's now time for another big electronics maker to join the fray: KitchenAid. Wait, what? OK, see, there's a simple explanation: KitchenAid is owned by Whirlpool. No, still doesn't make sense. Well, Ryne called the Lenovo Smart Display "the best new kitchen appliance since the dishwasher" and our best guess is KitchenAid read that and thought, " Nah, we can do better."

LG ThinQ View smart display review: It's $250, loud, and kind of ugly

Google Assistant-powered smart displays all do pretty much the same things, and, except for the Google Home Hub, run identical software on similar internal hardware. That uniformity leaves device-specific critiques to nuances in external hardware, and while LG's ThinQ View display doesn't outright fail in any respect, for $250, its functional similarity to cheaper, prettier devices makes it a bad buy.

Get a Google Home Hub for $20 with the purchase of select Nest devices at Best Buy, B&H, and more

The holiday sales season isn't over yet - Boxing Day deals are the last big hurrah before a promo dry spell. Among the most intriguing deals of the day (for Americans) is an offer that reduces Google's regularly $150 Home Hub to $20 if bought in tandem with select Nest devices at retailers including B&H, Best Buy, and Walmart. There's no doubt that Google will continue to push its smart devices in the new year with lots more deals to come, but at an $80 discount, this current promotion is certainly compelling.

Google Home Hub is just $79 ($70 off) on Google Express with discount code for new customers

The past few weeks have seen a ton of deals on the Google Home Hub. Most of those have been bundles with other products, like the Home Mini, though many of you simply don't need any more Home Minis. However, a Google Express coupon for new customers brings the Home Hub's price down to just $79.20, the lowest price we've seen for Google's smart display yet.

Lenovo fixes Smart Display low-volume bug, update coming soon

Over the past month or so, a strange bug has been affecting the Lenovo Smart Display. In some cases, voice responses from Google Assistant would start at 0% volume, then slowly raise to the actual volume after a few words. Multiple owners have reported the bug, including our own Artem (#artemsluck), but Lenovo says the glitch has finally been fixed.
