It's that spooky time of year once again. That's right, Halloween is almost here, and so I have updated our Halloween game roundup with the creepiest and scariest games currently available on the Google Play Store. Today's list is comprised of new and old releases alike, but rest assured, I've added in some of the scariest games to land in 2020 to ensure a suitable list for the buildup to Halloween. So without further ado, here are thirty of the spookiest Android games that are absolutely worthy of your playtime during Halloween 2020.
Horror comes in many flavors... just don't tell that to whoever's filming the seventh Paranormal Activity movie on some Hollywood lot right now. Case in point: Steam's horror section is a cavalcade of creepiness, with games like the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise sitting alongside Amnesia and The Evil Within. And lest you think it's only possible to scare in three dimensions, there's also DISTRAINT, an indie 2D side-scroller that's dripping with horror themes. The game popped up on Steam last year, but now it's available in the Play Store for free.
Developer Scott Cawthon has an output schedule that would make the producers of the Saw movies jealous. It's been just under twelve months since the original adventure-horror game Five Nights at Freddy's was released on PC, followed by the second entry in the series in November of last year and the third in March. The latest version, Five Nights at Freddy's 4, gets an almost simultaneous release - it came out for Steam on Thursday and now you can get it on your Android phone or tablet.
Five Nights at Freddy's might just be the most nerve-wracking week you will ever experience. In this point-and-click survival horror game, players are responsible for watching over Freddy Fazbear's Pizza between the hours of midnight and 6AM. As it turns out, these just so happen to be the hours that the animatronic robots at this place of amusement and fun happen to wander the halls. They're made of metal and wires, not flesh and blood, yet for some reason they still have the tendency to stick night watch workers in their mouths. As you would imagine, it tends not to end well.
