Save big on both generations of Samsung's flashy Galaxy Chromebook
Take up to $300 off the premium model
Summer vacation has come and gone — it's already August, our (not really) favorite time of the year when many of us head back to the classroom. If you've been eyeing a laptop for your daily schooling needs, there's no better way to catch the attention of your peers than by grabbing Samsung's flashy fiesta-red Galaxy Chromebook. And today, you can save big on both generations of these attractive Chromebooks — up to $300 off the premium model.Samsung's high-end Galaxy Chromebook is a beautiful mess — but mostly the latter. There's still lots to love about it, though: a gorgeous 4K OLED screen, attractive hardware, integrated stylus, and more. It's equipped with a 10th generation Intel Core i5-10210U processor and 8GB of RAM. There's a fingerprint sensor on the unit to jump right back into your productivity zone quickly, and its 256GB PCIe storage allows for super-fast reads and writes. The Galaxy Chromebook 2, meanwhile, is Samsung's successor to its convertible, and it also keeps that lovely flirtatious red color scheme. While the new Chromebook improves the keyboard, speakers, and security, the manufacturer made some notable downgrades to address the slew of problems that plagued the first-generation device — notably the lackluster battery life and thermal issues. The base model is equipped with an Intel Celeron 5205U and 4GB of RAM, but you'll be able to configure it with up to an i3-10110U and 8GB memory — this bumps its 64GB eMMC flash storage up to 128, too. Despite the slower speeds, the Galaxy Chromebook 2's 12-hour battery life and lower price make it a better value than the premium model.
Reports of the Z Fold2's death turn out to be (slightly) exaggerated
Unlocked Galaxy Z Fold2 sales resume at Samsung's store, but things are messy with carriers
Read update
Earlier this week, Samsung seemingly ceased selling last year's flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold2. The product listing at Samsung's store was temporarily replaced with a disclaimer that "The Galaxy Fold is no longer available for purchase on Samsung.com," directing customers to other options. While that quickly sparked rumors that Samsung was ending sales in anticipation of its next-gen foldables, the company now assures us that the Fold2 has not been discontinued.
Samsung has opened reservations for "the next Galaxy," a pretty clear euphemism for the now much-leaked Galaxy Note20 series of phones. Pre-registering your interest today will snag you a $50 instant credit you can spend on Samsung's site for stuff like tablets, smartwatches PCs, and "select" accessories.
Today is the Galaxy Note 10's official release date, with "pre-order" flipping over to "buy" at most websites. With the formal release, many of the early promotional offers are gone, though you can still snag up to $600 off with a recent trade-in via Samsung, and some carriers are still running their own discounts and trade-in programs. While in-store retailer and carrier availability may vary, the Note10 is now available and listed as "in stock" in most places.
Pre-Black Friday sales continue to trickle out a full week ahead of the day itself, and Samsung is the latest to publish its own preview for upcoming discounts. The variety covers everything from wearables to TVs and even smart home gadgets(and we're happy to tell you about them, too), but the promotions that have us most excited are for the company's latest Note and Galaxy-series phones. Starting on the 18th you can get a Note 9 for $800 unlocked, and a Galaxy S9 and S9+ for $520 and $640, respectively.
Samsung's Note9 may be the new hotness, but the S9 and S9+ are basically smaller versions of the same thing, and they're a lot cheaper than the $1,000 monolith. So if you had your eye on one, waiting for the price to fall in this post-Note9 world, the time is now. Galaxy S9 and S9+ prices were recently slashed by $100 pretty much everywhere. That means you can pick up a new, unlocked, US-warrantied Galaxy S9 for as low as $620.
