[Update x2: Rollout resumed] Samsung halts Android 8.0 Oreo rollout to Galaxy S8 and S8+

Just last week, Samsung began rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ after a roughly three-month beta phase. However, according to SamMobile, it seems like Samsung has suspended the rollout, though the reason behind that decision is unclear.

Android 8.0 Oreo is rolling out to the Galaxy S8 and S8+

After a few months of beta testing, Samsung has finally begun rolling out the official Android 8.0 Oreo update to the Galaxy S8 and S8+. It's been almost six months since the first public version of Oreo was released to the original Pixel, but then again, it's not like we aren't already used to slow rollouts anyway.

Fourth Android 8.0 Oreo beta now rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+

It's been about a month and a half since Samsung announced the first Android 8.0 Oreo beta for its Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. Since then, there have been a second and a third beta, and now there's a fourth. The latest update, build number ZQL8 for both phones, features a long list of bug fixes.

Second Android 8.0 Oreo beta is now rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus

At the beginning of the month, Samsung started rolling out its Android 8.0 Oreo beta to its Galaxy S8/S8 Plus devices in the US, UK, and Korea. The company isn't resting on its laurels, it seems, as the second beta build is already making its way to users. The firmware may have the build number G950FXXU1ZQK4 or G955USQU1ZQK6 depending on which region you're in.

[Update: Best Buy, Amazon, and Samsung.com too] Deal Alert: Get a US unlocked Galaxy S8 for just $575 and an S8+ for $650 on eBay

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are some of the best phones on the market, with their main downside being that their MSRPs are a little too high. Not to worry, though - the US unlocked models of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have now dropped to $574.99 and $649.99, respectively, on Samsung's own eBay storefront. That's $25 lower than we've previously seen for the S8 and $50 lower for the S8+.

Latest T-Mobile Galaxy S8 and S8+ update allows nav bar to be hidden, loses black fill option

One of the Galaxy S8's highlights is its extremely long 18.5:9 AMOLED display. It allows for more content while reading, as well as easier multitasking. However, the software keys on the bottom can cannibalize a bit of that screen real estate. Samsung's solution? Add a little button on the side of the screen that allows users to hide them at the touch of a button. Unfortunately, this feature addition also takes something that I never thought of as a feature: the black nav bar.

Verizon Galaxy S8 and S8+ are getting their red tint-fixing display calibration updates

The Galaxy S8 has had a relatively trouble-free launch thus far, with the one real quality issue being with displays. Some units are coming from the factory with a red tint on their displays, worsening the incredible experience that the AMOLED Infinity Display should bring. This fix (which basically allows for further calibration) first began rolling out in Korea near the end of April, but it's since hit AT&T and T-Mobile devices. Verizon is the latest US carrier to roll it out.

Galaxy S8 and S8+ hands-on: Betting big on big

The Galaxy S6 was, by all accounts, a truly transformational moment for Samsung's industrial design. After years of building plastic phones constantly lambasted for their "cheapness," Samsung made radical changes in an attempt to completely redefine its smartphone brand. Those changes were generally well received, but it always felt like they stopped short: the software was still slow, bloated, and the battery life surprisingly poor. With the Note5 and S6 edge+ we saw significant refinement of that reinvention "moment," but not until the S7 and S7 edge did Samsung really build the concept I think they set out to with those first metal and glass sandwiches.

[Potatocam] More and more Galaxy S8 pictures and videos leak

Is there anything we don't know or haven't seen from the Galaxy S8 yet? I highly doubt it. Samsung's next flagship has been leaked, again, and again, and that's just a selection of the news we reported, which were already curated from the dozens of leaks that have been flooding the web over the past weeks. Yet ironically, the more advanced these leaked devices get and the better their cameras are, the more the leaks themselves seem like they're coming from a 2MP camera from 2008. Can someone spare a hundred bucks to buy these leaksters a decent pocket camera?

Anyway, today we have a few leaks deluge of Galaxy S8 photos and videos that leave no stone unturned.
