A rumor is going around, supposedly confirmed by multiple sources within Sprint, that the Sprint's infamous SERO employee referral plan is going to start accepting Android and WebOS phones come October 1st. It is currently not possible to use these devices if you belong to SERO; this has been a long-standing woe of many SERO users wanting a piece of the Android action.
For those who have never heard of SERO, in short, it's a discounted plan, available via an employee referral but widely available to anyone able to google, read, and browse through a few pages of a an online forum.
Time for another game of ‘Shop job or Shadow: Gizmodo’s received a picture from someone claiming that they found the upcoming Motorola Shadow on the floor at a Verizon corporate gym.
According to the tipster they had enough time to confirm most of the rumored specs of the phone before it was remotely locked down, though suspiciously, they only had enough time to snap one picture.
Engadget notes that the angle of the picture is uncannily similar to that of the leaked ‘Getting Started’ manual that we’ve covered earlier. Read More
A user over at Howard Forums has leaked what appears to be a ‘Getting Started’ manual for an as of yet unknown Motorola phone. Rumor has it that this is the Motorola Shadow/MB810, a phone that we’ve seen in random leaks here and there for the last few months.
Apparently it’s an ultra-thin slider, which has some speculating that it will be Verizon’s follow up the original Droid. If this is in fact the MB810, then we know a little bit about the expected specs:
- 4.3 inch screen
- HDMI port
- 8 Megapixel camera
- 1080P Video Recording
- 802.11 b/g/n
This info all came via Engadget’s past coverage of the device here and here. Read More
Due to the amount of information crammed into day 1 of the Google I/O conference, I am blitzing through everything that happened, keeping it short and to the point.
Many of the older device owners and early adopters will be glad to hear this one - I've talked to a bunch of Google folks in charge of developing Android at the Google I/O, and they told me that technically it would be possible to put Froyo on any device on the market now, including the G1. What a day this has been at the Google I/O!
I have run around and talked to numerous extremely interesting people, including Googlers who have hinted (nothing is official until it's announced tomorrow and, of course, they could be trying to trick us) and pretty much unofficially confirmed some very interesting details about Android 2.2, also known as Froyo.
First up, I have confirmed that JIT will definitely be included. Read More
The EVO 4G news is continuing to roll in, though I’m using the term ‘news’ loosely. Engadget is reporting today that Sprint’s upper management is talking about a potential June 6th or 13th launch date, with the 13th seeming more likely to get some hot 4G action.
Engadget is definitely one of the more trustworthy gadget blogs out there right now, but they can only peg this information on ‘intel’, so at this point it does not appear that anything is set in stone. Read More
We just saw a leaked photo coming from Radio Shack’s Direct2U system showing what appears to be the rumored MyTouch Slide. If you are unfamiliar with what the MyTouch Slide is, rumor has it that it will be the G1’s successor for T-Mobile.
This is the photo, posted back in January, of what has been rumored to be the MyTouch Slide. I already have my reservations in regards to anything I own being named ‘MyTouch’, and I think the addition of ‘Slide’ to the name does not help much. Read More
A rumor is floating around, started by an alleged BestBuy employee, about BestBuy starting EVO 4G preorders within a couple of weeks, possibly starting on April 16th.
The rumor comes from gstill4, an AndroidCentral forum member, who posted this last night at 11PM:
I work at best buy and I got info today that best buy mobile is about to get ready to take pre-orders within a couple weeks and it could possibly start on april 16th
We were already expecting BestBuy to start preorders for the EVO 4G sometime soon, and this only reassures our expectations, whether gstill4 is credible or not. Read More
A few days ago on April 2nd, a forum poster by the name of KansasCityJoe turned up at AndroidCentral.com forums out of nowhere and suggested he had a pre-release version of Android 2.1 on a Samsung Moment. KansasCityJoe, being a busy urban dude, has not posted any evidence, however, and other forum readers quickly called him out on it.
Fast forward 3 days to today and what do you know - Joe posted 7 pictures, indeed showing the Moment running Android 2.1. Read More
