Capcom plans to bring classic Ghosts N Goblins, Ghouls N Ghosts, Commando, and 1942 arcade games to Android

Capcom's big push to bring Mega Man titles to Android didn't go over very well. Neither did its first Android title, Apollo Justice, which came without the chapter-by-chapter pricing of the iOS version. But maybe the third time will be the charm. Today the game publisher announced its intention to re-release mobile versions of four of its classic arcade games: Ghosts N Goblins, Ghouls N Ghosts, 1942, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando. Unfortunately there are no dates or prices available at the moment.

Back in 2005, video games really wanted to be movies. "Cinematic" was the buzzword of the day, though it usually translated to "a whole lot of cutscenes." Games still haven't quite gotten over their movie crush, but one of the distinct styles of games to emerge from that era was the narrative-focused 3D adventure. These games mixed the traditional inventory puzzles and story-focused dialogue of adventure games with big-budget production and quick-time controls. Classic Dungeon Crawler Shadowgate Gets A Gorgeous Remastered Release On Android

I can't honestly claim to be an old-school fan of Shadowgate, because when it was first published for the Macintosh in 1987, I was -2 months old. The original game was one of the first dungeon crawlers, advancing the player from room to room in a text-driven role-playing game that focuses on puzzles over combat, ruthlessly killing the player if he or she makes a misstep or doesn't keep enough torches around. It was kind of like Dark Souls, but with a greyscale color palette. Shadowgate is simple by modern PC and console standards, but its intricate worldbuilding and devious puzzles have made it a minor classic in the genre.
