The first Android 12-based custom ROMs are ready for you to install
And it hasn't even been three days
Google recently uploaded the stable release of Android 12 to the AOSP. While that was great to see, what we didn't end up getting alongside it were new Android 12 builds for Pixel phones. But while Google didn't step up with those, an open-source release means that OEMs can now start working on updates for their own handsets. It also happens to be exactly what indepdent developers need to create some Android 12 custom ROMs. Well, some devs seem to have gotten to work immediately, and now the first Android 12-based custom ROMs are already here.
TWRP is the most popular custom recovery for Android devices, allowing you to do anything from flash ROMs to perform full storage backups. Now the project has officially added support for more phones, including the Nokia 7.1, Xiaomi Mi 9T, and others.
Android update season is always a bittersweet time for users. While the select few are lucky enough to have a shiny new version delivered OTA to their device within weeks after launch, many users will have to wait months for an update from their manufacturers. However, thanks to recent changes made to Android's code structure, Android 10 is shaping up to be the most rapidly adopted releases of Google's mobile OS. Xiaomi's most recent flagship from its Redmi sub-brand, the K20 Pro, was first unveiled in May for the Chinese market before being rebadged as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro for release in Europe. Much like the OnePlus 7 Pro, it featured a pop-up front camera and triple rear lens setup. An upgraded version is now being introduced that packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

After leaks have shown virtually everything the Pixel 4 has to offer, Netflix doesn't seem to care if someone spots the yet-to-be-unveiled phone on its website. The company has updated its lists of devices supporting HD and HDR10 playback to include a number of new flagships like the Samsung Galaxy Note10, Fold, and Tab S6, plus the Asus ROG Phone II – among them, you'll also find the unreleased Pixel 4 and 4 XL.
Google wasn't joking when it said that many more devices will have the Android Q beta than those who were part of the Pie beta last year. 23 phones were involved when Q beta first launched, but we've since also added the new OnePlus 7 Pro and there's another addition today. Xiaomi Redmi isn't letting OnePlus stand alone in that new-device-beta spotlight, and has already released the Q beta build for its just-announced K20 Pro.
Redmi's latest flagships, the K20 Pro and K20, have already been leaked to oblivion before their official announcement, but today is the day the company has decided to formally introduce the new devices. The two phones are identical for the most part and come with the same triple-camera setup, bezel-less 6.39-inch AMOLED displays, and a front-facing camera sliding mechanism, with the "Pro" mostly designating the use of the Snapdragon 855 over the 730 in the sister model.
