Sailboats do not have a reputation for being particularly exciting, but the new game from Infinite Dreams is looking impressive anyway. In Sailboat Championship, you can run a different kind of race than you're used to. Basically, this title is a little more leisurely than the typical racing game.
You'll be racing against computer-controlled boats in various stunning environments. What this game lacks in speed, it makes up for in atmosphere.
When it came out early last month, Beach Buggy Blitz was one of an increasing number of Tegra-exclusive titles to hit the Play Store, which understandably upset some people. Namely, those people without Tegra devices (what a great excuse to buy a Nexus 7, though).
Now, the game has gone for a wider audience, and is available for most modern, high-end phones. The only specific handsets named are the Galaxy S III / II and One series, but there are obviously plenty of others that should be able to handle Buggy Blitz.
If you're not familiar with Vector Unit, you should be - they're responsible for such Android racing hits as Riptide GP and Shine Runner. Their latest title, Beach Buggy Blitz, has the player racing through a pristine tropical wonderland. You'll see white beaches, verdant forests and adorable local wildlife, all of which will be crushed under the tires of your 4-wheel-drive PETA-punisher of choice. Like Shine Runner, there are no opponents - just get the best time.
Gameloft took its sweet time getting its games in the Google Play Store, but when the French developer finally got its act together it offered some great stuff. The Asphalt series of racing games has been a mainstay of Android for a while now, and the newest incarnation, Asphalt 7, has finally launched. Now that there are so many alternatives, should you still be revving your engine for Asphalt? Let's see.
The newest addition to Gameloft's Asphalt family just landed in the Store. Dubbed Asphalt 7: Heat, this first-class racing game brings all new ways to hit the pavement in your favorite car, including offerings from Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin.
Asphalt 7 features 15 different racks based in real locations around the globe, with all new tracks in places like Hawaii, Paris, London, Miami, and Rio to go along with its six different games modes and 15 leagues.
Racing games are nothing new on Android, but Mini Motor Racing has a fun look and feel you just don't see very often. In this game you're racing nitro-infused remote-controlled cars, and what could be cooler than that? Name one thing you would have wanted more as a kid. You can't, can you?
Mini Motor Racing has the kind of features you'd expect out of a racing game, like plenty of cars, spec upgrades, and multiple control schemes.
As promised, Playbox today brought the console racing experience to Tegra 2 devices with the release of Bang Bang Racing THD. This top-down racer, previously available on XBOX 360 and Playstation 3, is one of the soon to be numerous games optimized for multicore phones and tablets. With the added device power comes a level of physics that is yet unknown in mobile gaming.
Let's just hope all that new hotness is worth the relatively high cost.
