It looks like Motorola's follow-up to the Droid X will be hitting its planned release date - sometime later in May - after all. According to Droid-Life's sources, the Droid X2 (or Droid X², if you feel like stylin') will be released on May 26, with all the following luscious hardware in tow:
- 4.3" qHD (960 x 540) display
- Dual core 1 GHz Tegra 2 processor
- 8 megapixel rear camera
- 720p video capture
- HDMI out
- 8 GB internal memory
- 8 GB microSD card included
- 1540 mAH battery
Looking at the image of the phone, the blue notification bar suggests that the device will come with Gingerbread pre-installed, as that is exactly what the Gingerbread build for the original Droid X looks like. Read More
Well, well, well... look what our friends over at Techno Buffalo have come across - the Droid X2! One of their loyal tipsters has sent in some really great pictures of the DX2, including side-by-side shots with the original Droid X. And as if that weren't enough, they even grabbed a quick video of this upcoming monster performing a Quadrant benchmark. I know you're probably frothing at the mouth to see that, so it's first in line:

The rumors surrounding the Droid X2's hardware have been kind of sporadic, but it looks like we are starting to get a more definite look at what will be packed under the hood of this device. Some benchmarks that have appeared over at Nenamark are basically confirming the presence of a Tegra 2 dual-core processor and a qHD display, the latter via the device's reported resolution of 960x540.
This new information suggests the device is most likely a finished product and that release is upon us, making a launch sometime in May seem even more plausible. Read More
A German HTC fan blog by the name HTC Inside published a shot from Vodafone's internal inventory system last night, revealing the existence of an HTC phone by the name "Desire 2". Phandroid pointed out that this may be a European version of the upcoming and equally mysterious dual-core Pyramid, and I'd say that's not too farfetched a theory.
We'll probably find out what this thing is at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (which starts on the 14th), so the mystery shouldn't last a whole lot longer. Read More
Nope, Motorola hasn't announced this gem at their CES press conference yet, but it's already live on their site - it's called the Droid Bionic, and it's Motorola's LTE phone for Verizon.
- 512 MB of RAM
- A dual-core processor of some sort (our bet is on the Tegra 2)
- A front-facing web cam (VGA variety)
- An 8 MP rear camera
- A 4.3-inch qHD (960x540) display
Of course, it's also got a LTE radio under the hood, as evidenced by the "4G" logo in the top right corner and the "4G-like power" mentioned in the description. Read More
