In other Verizon news today, the cell operator announced two new options for its prepaid customers. Both offer quite a bit of data for prices that are not too bad considering that this is Verizon we're talking about. The first of these new plans is a 5GB for $50 per month tier, followed by 10GB for $70 per month. Both are available starting November 13. Read More
Verizon has been tweaking its plans recently to compete with the low-cost carriers like T-Mobile, and now that includes its prepaid offerings too. Verizon's new prepaid plans are cheaper, have a bit more data, and includes calling to more places. They go into effect on May 15th. Read More
Verizon is not traditionally known as a good carrier for those on a budget, but the strong growth of T-Mobile has encouraged Big Red to make some changes. The latest tweak to Verizon's offerings comes in the form of extra data for prepaid users. You can get a 1GB boost for enabling auto-pay. Read More
Sometimes US operators do nice little things to brighten up your day. Sure, they're still making a ton of money out of your contracts or prepaid plans, but they'd still like to keep you as a customer so they have to make improvements and additions to their offers to do so. So is the case with AT&T's latest update to its prepaid GoPhone plans.
Prior to January 8, GoPhone customers had 3 plans to choose from, all with unlimited talk and text in the US and unlimited messaging to Canada and Mexico. The $30 base plan didn't have any included 4G data, but the $45 plan had 1.5GB and the $60 had 4GB (both had a few more perks like unlimited 128kbps data after the allocation is used). Read More
It looks like budget-focused Sprint subsidiary Virgin Mobile USA is taking a page out of T-Mobile's book. The selection is a bit paltry at the moment (and notably lacking in both Google Play Music and Apple's Music service), but fans of Pandora Radio, Slacker, and iHeart Radio should be glad to hear that they can listen to practically unlimited amounts of music while they're out and about without incurring an extra charge.
Virgin Mobile is also reshuffling its phone plans. Read More
Asus has seen some success with the budget-oriented unlocked Zenfone 2, and now a less expensive variant of the device is coming to AT&T as a prepaid GoPhone. The Zenfone 2E keeps many of the design cues from the Zenfone 2, but pulls back on the spec sheet a bit. Read More
The G Stylo is an odd beast: its huge screen and built-in stylus imply a competitor to the Galaxy Note series, but a collection of low-end hardware specs means that it's actually intended for bargain hunters or those on a tight budget. If you're looking to get an interesting phone on the equally cheap Boost Mobile MVNO, you've now got the G Stylo as a choice. Boost is selling the phone for $199.99 without a contract.
Boost's parent company Sprint will also offer the G Stylo, but for some reason it's going to take a little longer to arrive with yellow paint. Read More
