Pokémon Go creator's latest creature collection game now available for preregistration

Niantic's first original IP in years lets you raise adorable pets

Peridot, an original IP from Niantic, will launch on iOS and Android on May 9th worldwide. Niantic's success with Pokémon Go has clearly inspired this creature collector, which is probably for the best, considering the studio's slate of recent failures. While it's reasonable not to expect much from this latest game, the fact that Niantic is not relying on partnerships with existing IPs makes this creature collection game an intriguing concept. It's available to register now.

My Friend Pedro lands on Android as a slingshot-based platformer, and it's pretty good

It's a new mobile-optimized game, not a port of the original

My Friend Pedro is a Devolver Digital game focusing on tight, visceral combat, stylized visuals, and a trippy hallucinogenic story. And because that describes about 95% of Devolver Digital games: this is the one with a banana in it. The game got rave reviews when it released on PC and consoles back in 2019, and now there's a mobile version coming to Android.

The Mega Man X series is coming to Android, and you can pre-register right now

Don't get too excited, it's a gacha game that's making its way West

It would appear that the first beta test for Mega Man X DiVE took place in August 2019. This beta lasted for four days, but the game was eventually released in the Asia (specifically Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Cambodia) back in 2020. Well, the game must have found a good bit of success in Asia, as it's now available on the US Play Store for pre-registration, which means this action platformer is indeed coming West.

Playdigious has just revealed that it's bringing Shiro Games' hit real-time strategy game Northgard to Android and iOS sometime soon. While details are light, the publisher has released a new teaser trailer in celebration of this event.

Battlegrounds Mobile India beta is now live for Android users

If you've played PUBG before, you'll feel right at home

PUBG Mobile was banned in India back in 2020 during a spree of Chinese app bans in the country. While it seemed clear the game would return as an Indian variant devoid of the Tencent server issue that caused the game to get banned in the first place, today, Krafton has confirmed the game is returning to the country as Battlegrounds Mobile India.

Back in August of 2019, Virtual Realms announced the development for Warhammer: Odyssey, an upcoming MMORPG that looked promising despite a lack of details. Well, over the last year, development of the title has been moving along, with Virtual Realms sharing a few snippets of the game along with a way to pre-register on the official website, though gameplay videos were pretty much absent. This changes today with the official release of the first gameplay video for Warhammer: Odyssey, and while this is mainly a cinematic trailer, there's a few seconds of gameplay that shows off some of the game's characters, so this video indeed offers the first look at Warhammer: Odyssey in action.

Samsung has opened reservations for "the next Galaxy," a pretty clear euphemism for the now much-leaked Galaxy Note20 series of phones. Pre-registering your interest today will snag you a $50 instant credit you can spend on Samsung's site for stuff like tablets, smartwatches PCs, and "select" accessories.

The Pokémon GO developer Niantic has just announced its fourth game, and yes, it's another augmented reality title. Shocking, I know. Since Niantic has already reskinned its original AR game Ingress with a Pokémon theme and a Harry Potter theme, the studio has now set its sights on the popular board game Catan, in cooperation with Asmodee. This upcoming title is called Catan: World Explorers, and it's billed as a massively-multiplayer augmented reality game that will "transform the entire Earth into one giant game of Catan," which at least sounds somewhat interesting.

DEEMO II and Soul of Eden are coming to Android, up for pre-reg now

Rayark International is bringing two new games to the Play Store

Rayark International is probably best known for its rhythm game series Cytus, though its action RPG Implosion - Never Lose Hope is also a very well-known title. Of course, the Cytus series isn't the developer's only rhythm game. The piano-based rhythm title DEEMO is also a major hit, and so it has amassed over 5-million installs on Android since its release in 2013. After seven years, it's now clear that a sequel is in the works, and it was recently listed on the Play Store for pre-registration, along with a secondary title called Soul of Eden, which is a card-based RTS.

It's always nice to see a well-reviewed console-quality game make its way to Android. This time around, Door Kickers: Action Squad is coming to the Play Store, and you can pre-register for the retro side-scroller right now to be notified when it's available for download.

According to a recent teardown by the folks at XDA Developers, the Play Store might be picking up a new feature someday that allows it to automatically install titles, like apps or games, that you pre-register to be notified about. That could mean that the next time you want to check out an upcoming mobile game, instead of just being sent an easily-dismissed notification when it finally comes out, it could just be installed on your phone automatically.
