We just covered a massive leak of the Oppo Reno yesterday, where all of its specs were spilled but there was no word on pricing. Today, the company has officially announced the device and said it's bringing two variants to the market: the 10x Zoom Edition and the Standard Edition.

Energizer puts a display on top of a massive 18000mAh power brick and calls it a phone

At the beginning of the month, we reported Energizer was planning on announcing a myriad of phones at MWC. The rumors had it some would feature a pop-up camera, and one could even sport a jaw-dropping 18,000mAh battery. Given the brand's expertise in power storage, it was only fair to expect the handsets to receive respectable battery sizes, but we were far from thinking it would present something as enormous as an actual brick.

Vivo has a new phone with a pop-up selfie cam, and it's headed for India

Vivo's been teasing the concept of a pop-up selfie camera since last MWC, but outside the Nex S, which landed in China last year, the technology has been sadly lacking in consumer devices. Today that changes, but only a little: Vivo has just formally announced the V15 Pro, bringing the pop-up camera to another consumer phone, but this time in India.

Energizer is bringing two phones with pop-up cameras to MWC... plus 24 others

The most interesting smartphone innovations in the last year (or so)

We've seen our mobile devices evolve from novelties to ubiquitous, do-it-all pocket supercomputers in just a few decades. Smartphones have matured, and the days of the next big thing actually being something big are largely behind us, but that doesn't mean improvements have stopped altogether. Here are a few of the noteworthy innovations and trends we've seen over the past 12 months.

JerryRigEverything's Vivo Nex S clear back conversion puts the pop-up camera's mechanism on display

The Vivo Nex S is no doubt one of the most interesting phones of 2018. Its massive 6.6" OLED screen may only be 1080p, but it's hiding an in-display fingerprint sensor and a fancy pop-up camera underneath that. JerryRigEverything already checked out the Nex S's durability in a previous video, but this time around, he does a clear back conversion and exposes the pop-up camera mechanism.

Vivo Apex hands-on: pop-up selfie cam, in-screen fingerprint scanner, and practically zero bezel

In-display fingerprint scanners on phones had been prophesied for some time, but few expected relatively unknown Chinese manufacturer Vivo would be the first to release a consumer product to the market. The X20 Plus UD went on sale last month, exclusively in China, for around $565.

By all accounts, the fingerprint reader works pretty well, although the phone was mostly unremarkable otherwise. It shipped with dual rear cameras, a 1080p 6.43" OLED panel, and a Snapdragon 660. Vivo isn't resting on its laurels, and here at MWC 2018 in Barcelona, the company has been showing off an even more impressive device.
