Report: Pokémon Go usage has peaked and is now on a steady decline

Multiple mobile analytics firms have weighed in on the state of Pokémon Go, and the news could be better. Usage is down from its peak in mid-July, which you'd expect for any product that explodes like Pokémon Go. However, the trend continues to be downward for Niantic as daily active users, downloads, and time spent in the app continue to decline.

Pokémon Go updated to v0.35.0 with 'Pokémon appraisals' and not much else

How good are your Pokémon? Would you like an appraisal by an expert? Well, we don't have any of those. The best you'll get are some vague statements about stats from your virtual team leader in the new Pokémon Go update. Niantic totally promises it's working on more things, though.

New Pokémon GO tracking test has rolled out to some players

Pokémon GO was updated yesterday with a few fixes and minor changes, but Niantic didn't bring back the recently removed tracking feature. However, a small subset of users are getting the chance to test a new version of tracking. It seems to be a server-side switch, so you'll just have to cross your fingers and hope you have it. If you're a rural player, though, prepare to be disappointed. This version of "Nearby" is highly dependent on Pokéstops.

Holy crap, you people really like playing Pokémon. A combination of nostalgia, interesting augmented reality gameplay, straight-up social novelty, and (not least) being a free game has made Niantic's Pokémon GO rocket to 100 million downloads in the Play Store in just a month. Life isn't a race, but if it was, Pokémon GO would be so far ahead of every other game that they'd see it disappearing beneath the horizon.

[¡Atrapalos ya!] Pokémon GO expands to South America and Central America

Niantic's augmented reality take on Pokémon GO continues to be staggeringly popular as it approaches its one month anniversary. It recently passed 100 million downloads across Android and iOS, despite some rather vocal negative press after the removal of the Pokémon step tracker and third-party tools for hunting monsters manually. Today Niantic is expanding the game to some of the biggest markets it hadn't previously supported: South America and Central America.

Pokémon GO update 0.31.0 fixes the 'footprints' tracker by removing it, adds avatar adjustment and other tweaks [APK Download]

A couple of weeks ago, when the "three footprints" monster tracking system in Pokémon GO suddenly stopped working and showed three steps for everything, I decided to stop playing the game until Niantic fixed the issue so I could reliably find Pokémon nearby. I guess the joke's on me.

Pokémon GO Plus wrist accessory has been delayed to September from its original release date of July

Along with the Pokémon GO game announcement, Nintendo said it would release a Pokémon GO Plus accessory in late July to help players stay on top of the game wherever they are and without taking their phones out of their pockets. This wrist bracelet / wearable pin connects over Bluetooth Low Energy to your Android/iOS phone and alerts you with vibrations and LED flashes to nearby Pokéstops and Pokémons. You can check more of what it does and how it works on its official page, but suffice it to say that it should make any trainer's life a little bit easier and their phone battery life a little bit longer.
