Pixel Buds fix for multi-device pairing problems is on the way

Firmware patch should be fully rolled out to the A-Series early next week

Earlier this week, Google sent out a firmware update to its Pixel Buds A-Series, and customers quickly noticed a bug: they could no longer connect to more than one device without initiating the Bluetooth pairing process all over again. The issue appeared to be widespread, affecting many users who installed the 3.519.0 update — but Google heard the complaints and is already in the process of sending out a fix.

The first Google Pixel Buds A-series update fixes a volume bug

It was still a good idea to clean your ears

Google did a damn good job of keeping most features of the 2020 Pixel Buds but drastically reducing the price of the Pixel Buds A-series. They still sound pretty good, are quite comfortable to wear, and...still have some static. While a new update is not fixing that, it's getting rid of a pesky volume bug.

The Pixel Buds A-Series come to 10 new countries next week

They'll be available in Australia, Japan, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Singapore, and the UK

The Pixel Buds A-Series are pretty freakin' sweet as TWE headphones go, hitting a great balance of price and features. Taylor Kerns said that at $100, they make the original and much pricier model "irrelevant," even with the loss of wireless charging. The availability for the low-price buds has been updated on Google's official support page, coming to nine new countries next week.

Well that didn't take long. After posting semi-official confirmation of the upcoming budget-priced Pixel Buds earlier today in Germany, Google just tweeted it out on the official @Android Twitter account with the image above. A few minutes later, the tweet was deleted.

It wouldn't be new hardware from Google without a constant series of escalating leaks. We've known for a while now that a new set of Pixel Buds were in the works, with a budget-friendly price in mind. A promotional email mixup even showed us the new "Forest Green" color before any actual announcement has taken place. Well, you can check another rumor off the list: it seems like Google's next Pixel Buds have a name locked in.

Google's new cheap Pixel Buds may lose some features

They could miss out on the swiping gesture for volume

Rumors of a new pair of Google earbuds have been swirling for a little while now. It seems clear that we're getting a cheaper set — possibly called Pixel Buds A in line with its phone naming scheme for its more affordable models — and Google itself appeared to leak an image of the upcoming product. New evidence has popped up that points to a lack of volume gesture controls.

Whoops: Google just gave us a look at the new Pixel Buds it hasn't even announced yet

Someone slipped an official image of the 'Pixel Buds A' into a promotional email

We've known for a couple of weeks that Google is working on a new set of true wireless Pixel Buds, and it's rumored that they'll be a mercifully cheaper variant. The "Pixel Buds A" were spotted hanging out at the FCC, with enough info to speculate that they're similar in form factor to the current model. Today Google sent out a promotional image in a Nest email that, apparently, shows off the new buds a little early.

The Pixel Buds 2 weren't perfect, but for Google's first attempt at true wireless earbuds, there was a lot to love about them. We already knew that Google was hard at work on two new pairs of headphones, courtesy of FCC listings discovered last week. Thanks to a new leak, we have a better idea about the next set of Pixel Buds planned for release later this year.
