It seems the music has stopped for the second-gen Pixel Buds as the latest and more affordable A-series version has become the star of the Google Store.
Google just ran out of last year's Pixel Buds
The US Google Store is out of stock and Walmart has them on fire sale
The 2020/2nd gen Pixel Buds are now listed as "out of stock" at the Google Store. This follows the release of the new, cheaper, slightly awkwardly named Pixel Buds A-Series and sizeable discounts for the older model over the last two months at several retailers, raising questions about whether or not the older model has been discontinued.
Rumors are swirling about a new, quite probably less-expensive pair of Pixel Buds, but the existing set has seen some big discounts lately. None bigger than this, though: the 2020 Pixel Buds are down to just .99 at Verizon.
Sick of waiting for the new Pixel Buds? Last year's model is at its lowest price ever
Do-it-yourself Pixel Buds A-Series
Google's upcoming Pixel Buds A-Series has leaked out several times over the last few months. In fact, the only thing we don't know yet is when they'll finally be officially announced. If you can't take the wait any longer, there's no need to keep hoping for an unveiling. Over at eBay, you can grab a pair of last year's Pixel Buds for just $119, an all-new low.
Google released its first Pixel Buds in 2017. They were bad. Pretty much everything about them was underbaked: they didn't sound very good, they weren't comfortable, and they had a weird, cumbersome charging case. Last year, we got a true wireless sequel that was definitely better, but still flawed. After months of software updates — and with a new model on the horizon — are 2020's Pixel Buds a good buy today? Let's talk about it.
Pick up a pair of Google's premium Pixel Buds at their cheapest price yet — while you can
This might be your best chance before the entry model lands
Google's rumored Pixel Buds refresh has been leaked to hell and back. We already know the company plans to make them cheaper than previous models, possibly by removing the swiping gesture for volume control. You don't need to wait until I/O next month to get Google's true wireless earbuds at a more affordable price. The latest-gen Pixel Buds have hit an all-time low at multiple retailers, making today the perfect opportunity to upgrade your headphones.
Google's Oh So Orange Pixel Buds have disappeared
They're out of stock, listed as "discontinued" or just straight-up gone at most retailers
Google's Oh So Orange colorway for the newer Pixel Buds may have been discontinued, according to retailer listings. Most storefronts now list the orange-capped earbuds as out of stock.
Google's wireless Pixel Buds are down to their lowest price ever
Probably the most fun you'll have using wireless earbuds
With the next generation of Pixel Buds seemingly pretty close by, you might be surprised to find the current generation still on digital or real store shelves for their stubbornly stiff MSRP of $179 or even $180. But if you want one for less cash, we've got the place and the coupon code for your desires.
Truly wireless earbuds are all the rage, and most smartphone manufacturers have launched some of their own over the last few years. Google jumped on the bandwagon with its Pixel Buds 2 last year, and we may see a new pair from the company soon.
Google's newest Pixel Buds are a huge improvement over the first version. They're true wireless, for one, but they also come in a sleek little case and sound pretty nice, to boot. They're normally pretty pricey, though, at their MSRP of $179 — but they're $20 off today from a number of retailers.
It's taken months for all the colors to fall into place — almost four months, in fact — but the Google Store is now shipping the second-generation Pixel Buds in Just White, Oh So Orange, Quite Mint, and Almost Black to customers in the United States.
Pixel Buds feature drop includes audio cutout fixes and some new functionality
The additions include bass boost, sharing detection, and more
The second-generation Pixel Buds debuted a couple of months ago. We walked away unable to recommend them, but these wireless earbuds are getting a few new features today that will hopefully improve the experience a bit. They include bass boost, sharing detection, and a few others. Plus, some fixes have been implemented to hopefully alleviate the connectivity issues some have been experiencing.
Google Pixel Buds and other Fast Pair-enabled wireless earbuds start showing up in Find My Device
Music to the ears of serial misplace-ers
Google released the second generation of its Pixel Buds earlier this year in the US. Despite being a significant step forward from the first gen, there were still numerous issues that make them hard to recommend. Now they're getting a little better thanks to new features to help find misplaced earbuds — and they aren't the only Fast Pair-enabled accessories showing up in the Find My Device app.
Google's first Pixel Buds feature drop will arrive next month with fix for audio cut out problems
Drop it like it's hot
The Pixel Buds have only just launched in Canada, the UK, and many more international markets, but the good news don't stop there: Google promises a feature drop update to the true wireless earbuds, according to information the company relayed to Forbes. Along with unspecified new capabilities, the update is supposed to finally fix the notorious audio cut out problems the Buds are plagued with, which Google already promised a month ago.

The new Pixel Buds have plenty going for them: they're modern and sleek, they sound nice, and their Android integration is top-notch. But a quick glance at the Pixel Buds support forums shows tons of reports of connectivity problems. The good news is that Google is aware of these issues and a fix is on the way — eventually.
Pixel Buds 2 review, one month later: Too many compromises
Middling battery life and a steep MSRP relegate otherwise-good earbuds to niche status
It's been a month and change since Google launched its first true wireless earbuds. When I first got my hands on the Pixel Buds, I was struck by their fit and finish, comfort, and sound quality, but nagging problems like audible interference at low volumes and short battery life left me feeling lukewarm on the whole. I've been using them regularly ever since, but unfortunately, my opinion hasn't changed: there are too many compromises in the 2020 Pixel Buds to justify their price for most buyers.
Google's new Pixel Buds will get 'feature drops' like Pixel phones
There's no word on what sort of features we can look forward to yet
Google's newly released Pixel Buds 2 will get feature drop updates similar to the last two released for Pixels, according to a report from Forbes. There are no details yet on what sort of features we can look forward to, and no schedule for these updates has been provided.
Fast Pair getting upgrades to help find lost wireless earbuds, check battery levels
Well, not *too* lost earbuds, for now...
Google is updating its Fast Pair protocol with new accommodations for true wireless earbuds. Some of these changes were first tipped back at Google I/O 2019, but with today's launch of the second-generation Pixel Buds, it would probably be the most apt time to introduce some features tailored specifically towards that type of Bluetooth accessory.

Oh So Orange looks to only be available in US at the moment

If you've been waiting for Google to finally start selling its second-generation Pixel Buds, you may need to check your ensemble expectations if you live outside the United States. The company has cut down the number of colors it has listed for the 10 foreign markets the Pixel Buds 2 will be in.
Retailer cancels early Pixel Buds 2 pre-orders, calls product listing a 'mistake'
It's still unclear when you're ever going to be able to buy a pair

Google first revealed an updated line of Pixel Buds in October of last year, but there's still no firm release date beyond "spring." A product listing at B&H appeared two months ago, saying the buds were "coming soon," but that was later removed. Now another page about the Pixel Buds 2 has been made available, and even though it has already been taken down, nothing on the internet is ever truly deleted.
