Get Google's Pixel 3a fabric case for $20 (half off), plus a free premium screen protector

Google's first-party accessories have improved a lot over the last few years, especially when it comes to the fabric cases available to Pixels. When fabric cases debuted alongside the Pixel 2, they quickly became a favorite among owners, and they've become a staple of subsequent Pixel launches. The only real issue with these cases is the price: usually $40, which is a lot for a phone case, and all the more so if you're buying one for a Pixel 3a. But if you act before April 5th, you can grab one for $20 and get a free screen protector thrown in.

March Pixel update OTA and factory images are live (Update: Missing images for Pixel 3 and 3a)

Google has posted images for the March Pixel update to the usual spots for manual installation, if you're too impatient to see it roll out via the traditional means. However, although this month's update is supposed to correspond to the latest Pixel Feature Drop, some of the new features don't seem to be live in the March update just yet. As we noted in our prior coverage, some things may require app updates or server-side changes before they work. (Update: Though they're almost all live for me as of around two hours later.)

Google's second Pixel Feature Drop rolls out today with piles of new features

As we predicted last week, Google's latest quarterly Feature Drop is rolling out for Pixel phones today. Unlike the regular monthly security releases, this update includes a ton of new features, including a new play/pause gesture for Pixel 4's Motion Sense, a wider rollout of car crash detection, dark theme scheduling, Live Caption for the Pixel 2, a new power button wallet, live Duo AR effects, a pile of new emoji, and a whole lot more.

Many still affected by long-standing Android 10 update issue that breaks Pixel sensors

Last year, after the Android 10 update first started rolling out for Pixel owners, there were a handful of reports that device sensors — things like the ambient light sensor for screen brightness, orientation sensor for auto-rotation, and Active Edge sensor — stopped working. A workaround was found for those with unlocked bootloaders, and many of those affected were part of the root and ROM crowd, but almost six months later, many phones are still affected, and those with Verizon-branded, locked devices are still simply out of luck.

First Android 11 Developer Preview lands today for Google Pixel 2, 3, 3a, and 4

Android 11 is now official, and Google is releasing the first Developer Preview for this new version starting today. The software changes this time sound ambitious, with Google essentially taking most of its work on Android 10 and (literally) turning it up to 11, featuring enhancements to privacy and security, improvements to Project Mainline, a new dedicated "conversations" section for notifications, and tweaks to better harness 5G — all among a much longer list of changes just too big to include here. You can check it out for yourself by manually flashing it onto supported Pixel phones (everything but the 2016 OGs).

Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL are £70 off in the UK, start at just £329

The Pixel 3a from Google rightly won our phone of the year for 2019 thanks to its dependable performance, solid build quality, and, above all, a great camera. It also packs a nostalgia-inducing retro feature called a headphone jack that some of our older readers may be familiar with. The normal price of £399 was already a great bargain, but it's now £70 off in the UK, so there's very little reason not to buy it if you're in the market for an inexpensive Android handset.
