Review: Moment's modular lenses up your Pixel 2's photography game... if you have a few hundred bucks lying around

The cameras on smartphones are getting ridiculously good --- good to the point that most households don't even own standalone cameras anymore. But given the dimensions that phone cameras are restricted to, they're not as flexible as something like a mirrorless or DSLR with interchangeable lenses. That's where Moment comes in. The company offers a small collection of lenses that can be individually purchased and attached to its Photo Cases, which are available for a variety of phones.

Of course, this isn't the first time that someone has come up with the idea of attaching lenses to phones. There are loads of cheap solutions on Amazon, though none are as high-quality and cohesive.

[Update: Extended to March 17th] Deal Alert: New Project Fi subscribers can get $80 off any phone

Project Fi is becoming more and more enticing, with the recent additions of Bill Protection (basically an unlimited plan) and extended international coverage. The biggest downside to Fi is still the lack of supported devices, but now the carrier is making that a bit more enticing. If you sign up for Fi from now until February 28, you can get $80 off any phone it sells, in the form of service credit.

The Pixel 2's Motion Photos can now be exported as GIFs with Google Photos

One of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL's highlight features was Motion Photos. It's not something most of us really care about, and it's something I quickly disabled, but it can be fun for those with little ones. In keeping with one of our teardowns from about a week ago, Google has added the option to export a Motion Photo as a GIF to the Google Photos app.

[Update: Official response] Google investigating February 2018 OTA battery drain bug on Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

Over the past few weeks, many owners of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have reported battery drain problems. The Pixel 2 charges much more slowly below certain temperatures, but it doesn't tell you that

Battery advancements haven't kept in step with performance improvements, but the charging tech for topping those cells up has come a long way. Now, most phones come with some flavor of quick-charging technology that promises to fill our capacious flagships in arbitrarily small periods of time. But in the case of Google's Pixel 2 XL, it turns out that its "Charging rapidly" notification isn't always an accurate statement. In low temperatures, Google's flagship will claim to be charging quickly (10W+) when, in fact, it's actually charging at less than 4W.

[Deal Alert] Check your email - some 'loyal Nexus owners' are getting 20% (up to $190) off Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

Were you not enticed enough by the $529.99 refurbished Verizon Pixel 2 deal we posted earlier today? Well, we might have some good news for you; provided that Google has deemed you worthy, you might actually be able to get a brand-new Pixel 2 for less than that. In fact, depending on what configuration of Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL you buy, you might be able to save nearly $200 over MSRP - quite a significant amount.
