The Amazon Echo Show can go head-to-head against peers like those in the Google Nest Hub series when it comes to smart display functionality and sound quality. Models like the Echo Show 10 manage to stand out from competitors with a unique rotating base, which can swivel in the user's direction. If you haven't been following digital picture frames (I don't blame you), it may not be immediately obvious why they still exist — when every screen you own is connected to the internet, after all, every screen you own is a potential picture frame. But modern digital frames aren't the Sharper Image novelties you're probably imagining. The Lenovo Smart Frame, for example, is a big, 21-inch screen that connects to Google Photos to seamlessly source pictures from any of your albums, and while it's got some rough edges, this thing has become one of my favorite gadgets. I just wish it were a little more affordable.

Lenovo doesn't have any new Assistant smart displays to show off at CES this year, but there are some displays with smarts. The company has unveiled a new version of its Assistant Ambient Mode tablet, the Smart Tab M10. Plus, there's a gigantic photo frame. That's what you've always wanted, right?

One of the best features of smart displays is their ability to act as high-quality digital photo frames, but adjusting which pictures they show has, up to this point, been a bit of a slog: open the Home app, scroll to the device, tap the settings icon, then Photo Frame, then Google Photos. That process is being simplified considerably with a shortcut right inside the Photos app.
