At I/O this year, Google promised support for the Korean language would be coming by the end of the year to Assistant. Then at the October Pixel event a couple of weeks ago, Google also stated that Actions on Google (third-party Assistant integrations from different services) now support Korean. Between then and now, it appears that support for the Korean language has gone live on Assistant. Read More
The 30-hour event known as Prime Day has officially kicked off, and we have a list of ten Android phones, tablets, and Chromebooks that will be included at different times during the sale. For the uninitiated, the sales on Prime Day are staggered, the better to consistently pull your attention throughout the day. So most of the items that will be included haven't yet gone on sale. But, worry not, as with this list you'll be prepared. Read More
I consider myself quite lucky to be able to make a living writing things on the internet because it gives me an outlet for my natural geekery. Even if I had never started crafting snarky blog posts on a daily basis, I suspect many of the things on this list would still be in my office (I guess then I'd call it something else). However, in this version of reality, I'm a professional nerd, and these are the things that I use every day. Read More
Now is the time of year when retailers start to drop prices in an effort to stimulate your innate shopping instincts. Only by keeping a close eye on the ebb and flow of deals can you beat your fellow man to the best stuff at the best price. We're here to aggregate all the deals in one place so you can plan ahead. Buying an Android phone can be intimidating, what with all the options out there. Google has a new tool that might help you narrow things down a little, and it's right there on the main Android phone homepage under "Find the Android phone for you." Just answer some question and the Google machine spits out some suggestions.
Until now if you wanted a Nexus phone, Nest Thermostat, or some other device sold by Google, you'd go to the Play Store device section. Well, not anymore. Google has just launched the Google Store, a hub for all things Google with listings for phones, tablets, smartwatches, Chromebooks, and more. Basically, hardware is in the Google Store, and software is in Google Play.
I love gadgets. I remember wandering around the electronics store, checking the specs on every portable radio cassette player, and drooling over an Aiwa one that could play both sides of the tape without requiring manual flipping. I was also the 14-year-old girl who went to the computer shop and had a list of every spec she wanted in her first computer.
Now in my (very) late twenties, that passion hasn't subsided. I still love these pieces of plastic and metal. I read about them, try them when I can, buy them when it's justifiable, tinker with them, and it led me to write about them. Read More
When it came time to think about writing a “What We Use” post last year, I was still somewhat new to the AP team and I had just learned that I was about to be the new Teardown guy, so I took a pass on attempting to compile my entire toolset in a single article. I can’t say that I’m any more prepared to do one this year, but I couldn’t resist joining in on the fun. But like Bertel, I also realized a lot of people probably don’t know much about me, so this is a good time to give a little bit of background. Read More
Blu has made its name offering inexpensive mid-range devices, but the new Life Pure XL is creeping up the food chain. This phone will still be fairly cheap, but has vastly improved specs.
It has only been a few months since Asus announced the original PadFone Infinity, but the new version of the phone-tablet hybrid was just outed in Taiwan. This is a spec bump on the last PadFone, which moves from Snapdragon 600 to 800, but that's not all.
Just like the last PadFone, this one has a 5-inch 1080p screen, which is upped to a 10-inch display at the same resolution when the phone is in the tablet dock. Asus has taken the odd step of lowering the amount of internal storage, but adding a microSD card slot. The device now comes with 16 or 32GB of internal storage. Read More
