This is used for both making purchases through Google Express merchants as well as sending payments to other users. However, both options are only available to users in the US. Android Pay may not have had a massive launch, or has been as aggressively rolled out as Samsung Pay, but it is steadily setting up shop in more countries around the globe. If the presentations at Google I/O last month were any indication, Android Pay is growing quite quickly. Several new features were announced, but most were still only demos, not available to the public. A fresh update to the Android Pay app came out yesterday and a teardown reveals a few of those key features are either ready to launch or getting closer. There's also work being done on a map that will show merchants in close proximity that accept Android Pay, and a shortcut already showing up that will direct users to apps with Android Pay integration. Google Wallet is nearing the end of its rope and Android Pay has risen to take its place as everyone's favorite online and in-store payment method. Apps have started rolling support for Android Pay and Uber is no exception. Users of the app who have previously used Google Wallet to pay for a ride are getting emails from Uber telling them that the payment method will no longer be supported starting May 9.
Instead, they can now add Android Pay to, erm, pay for rides. Along with a credit/debit card and Paypal, this will be the third payment option available to users of Uber. Read More
