ARCore v1.1 suggests upcoming support for Galaxy S9 / S9+, Huawei P20 / P20 Pro, Nexus 6P, and several more [APK Teardown]

Google's ARCore technology is building steam since its initial test launch on Pixel and Galaxy S8 phones. This came with a promise to support more phones, which was followed a few weeks later with a half-dozen more phones added during MWC. To keep the momentum going, Google also featured nearly 90 new apps and games that made use of ARCore in some way. Now with the latest update, we can likely guess at the next phones on the list.

Huawei P20 and P20 Pro hands-on: Can Huawei finally challenge Apple and Samsung?

Huawei P20 and P20 Pro hands-on: Can Huawei finally challenge Apple and Samsung?

The P20 and P20 Pro are two of the most attractive, interesting phones Huawei has ever produced - and you'll never see them on sale in America.

That was something Huawei was sure to reiterate during our time at a hands-on briefing with the devices in San Francisco last week. Huawei's recent troubles with the US government, AT&T, Verizon, and Best Buy are still pretty recent news, and that certainly hung over the hour-long presentation we were given. While Huawei has never distributed the P-series in the US (aside from the P8 Lite, which was a P-series in name only), it probably stings a little to know that your notch-display, triple camera flagship is going to be called "the Chinese iPhone X you can't buy" by a bunch of American journalists.

Huawei P20 Lite leaked, showing similar design to P20 but with rear fingerprint sensor

A few days ago, the Huawei P20 was leaked with a brand-new design. Many people, myself included, weren't fans of it, especially because of the fingerprint sensor that was crammed into the front bezel. But if you were okay with the rest of the design, perhaps you'll find the P20 Lite more to your liking.

Huawei P20 leaked with radically different design, including an iPhone X-esque notch and 'only' two rear cameras

Huawei P20 leaked with radically different design, including an iPhone X-esque notch and 'only' two rear cameras

Huawei's Px lineup has followed the same design formula for some time now: a contrasting bar on top of the back, a clean front with minimal side bezels, and so on. But according to the latest leak from @evleaks, Huawei may be going in a completely different direction looks-wise for the upcoming P20. The design is rather... Apple-inspired.

Huawei confirms triple lens P20 will launch on March 27 in Paris

Huawei confirms triple lens P20 will launch on March 27 in Paris

Huawei's presence at MWC seems to be a bit less than years past, aside from the new MediaPad tablets and Matebook X Pro ultrabook (the latter looks really nice, but that's outside of our wheelhouse here at AP). However, the Chinese manufacturer has decided to let Samsung have all of the attention this year in Barcelona, and instead hold its own event in Paris at the end of March. What is Huawei planning to do, you might ask? Announce the newest member of the P family, the P20.
