OnePlus' OxygenOS Open Betas give us an illuminating glimpse into the company's future software plans. Although it's possible that not every feature that makes it into the Open Betas will be deemed fit for stable release, they give us an advance look at the company's intentions, if nothing else. Today OnePlus has released a new pair of Open Betas for the OnePlus 5 and 5T, and the changes are quite substantial, including "Supported [sic] for Project Treble."

Pocket Casts opens beta testing to all users

There's been a lot of chatter about Google Podcasts around here lately, but there are other podcast apps out there. The developers of one such app, the ever-popular Pocket Casts, have announced that the beta for the app, previously only available to some, will now be open to all users.

New OnePlus Open Betas improve Switch, add Parallel Apps file management, and more

Yesterday, OnePlus pushed out new Open Betas for its 2016 and 2017 flagships. While mostly similar, the 3/3T version differs slightly from the 5/5T one. Both, however, improve the OnePlus Switch app and add the ability to manage Parallel Apps files in the File Manager.

OnePlus' second 2017 flagship has turned out to be one of my favorite phones, but the largest disappointment at launch was that it shipped with Nougat instead of Oreo. However, OnePlus kept true to its word that the 5T would get Oreo via an Open Beta before the end of the year. Now it's time for the second update, which includes some new stock apps, improves background task management and adds some other quality of life things.
