OnePlus doesn't have the best reputation for software updates, though a recent re-commitment seems to have things moving a little faster than before. Just over a month after the company (sort of) fixed HD playback issues on its 2019 flagships, it's returned with yet another refresh. The OnePlus 7 and 7T series are both receiving updates today, though this one may rub some salt into the wounds of owners everywhere.

OnePlus isn't as quick on its feet as it used to be with respect to updates. The July security patch is only now arriving for the company's flagship phones — the OnePlus 9 and the 9 Pro —  as we edge closer to the end of the month. The software update also sneakily installs an app that you most definitely won't need.OxygenOS 11.2.8.8 loads the OnePlus Store app on the phones; it seems like OnePlus hopes you can make some impulse purchases in it. While it's annoying, the good news is that you still have the option to uninstall the app.

After introducing its brand-new store app to the US and Canada shortly before launching the OnePlus 9 series, OnePlus has expanded the application to Europe, as it announced in a blog post. After a short exclusive beta phase that forced you to download the app manually from the manufacturer's website, it's now available in the Play Store for European, too.

The OnePlus 6 and 6T just picked up a new update. No, they aren't getting Android 11 today, but the latest OxygenOS v10.3.8 does deliver January 2021 security patches plus an updated GMS package. Folks in India also get the newish OnePlus Store app and an update to the Red Cable Club "MemberShip" app.

OnePlus' latest 7T may have earned high marks in our recent review, but there was one major catch: you couldn't actually buy one here in the 'states. As of today, that's no longer a problem, as sales have opened for the OnePlus 7T in the US. For just $599, you can pick up OnePlus' latest phone through both the company's own storefront and T-Mobile.

OnePlus' 5T has been in and out of stock at the company's website for the last couple weeks, and it turns out that's not a fluke. Engadget has confirmed that the company has run out of all its North American stock in just four months. If you didn't manage to grab one new from the OnePlus store, 3rd party resellers and used phones are now your only option.
