OnePlus smartwatch rumors are almost as old as OnePlus smartphones themselves, but any full-fledged smartwatch that might exist is still in the offing. The first OnePlus wearable is an inexpensive fitness band for the Indian market. The OnePlus Band is priced to compete with the bestselling Mi Band 5 in India, but some of its glaring shortcomings at the basic level keep the OnePlus Band from realizing its full potential.
OnePlus has slowly but surely moved into the upper tier of the price spectrum with its phones. But the saturated high-end market led the company to take another look at the budget segment last year with its entry-level Nord phones and its recent venture into the cheap TWE space. Now, OnePlus is entering the burgeoning fitness tracker market with its own cheap option.
OnePlus is working on a smartwatch, possibly using Google's Wear OS platform, but it has also been developing a cheaper fitness band. Some details and photos of the band leaked earlier this week, and now OnePlus has set an official launch date.
Following recent teasers and leaks, an app for the OnePlus Band fitness wearable has just been published to the Play Store. Called OnePlus Health, the app shows off pretty typical fitness features, like mapping, activity tracking, clock face customization, and general device management. We even get a glimpse at some of the clock faces it might come with. And if it looks familiar, there's a good reason for that.
