OnePlus is usually on the ball with system updates, but the last few months have been rough across the board — Android 10 for the OP6 and 6T was continuously delayed due to bugs, and several of the company's phones are months behind on security updates. Now the 7 Pro is finally getting a newer security patch, but only for owners willing to use beta software. Read More
When the first OnePlus 7 Pro renders trickled out, showing off what appeared to be a pop-out camera mechanism, even I was critical of the concept. External moving parts on a device that suffers as much abuse as a phone seemed like a design that was destined to fail, even in just a mechanical sense.
Well, I'm not afraid to say that I was entirely wrong. OnePlus' pop-up selfie camera has proven to be a fantastic idea, and I'm upset it looks like OnePlus' next high-end "Pro" phone won't get one. Read More
OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro owners that jumped onto the Open Beta release cycle have a new build that's rolling out today. Open Beta 8 includes a handful of fixes for issues you might have experienced on Beta 7, including accidental touches in pockets and a fix for some crash/black screen problems some ran into with the camera. The unlocked OnePlus 7 Pro variant got Android 10 in September, while T-Mobile units have been stuck with Pie and the September security patch. OxygenOS 10.0.3 is rolling out now for the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. Unlike the previous, bigger 10.0.2 update, this latest version carries a pretty tiny changelog, with just a handful of undefined bug fixes and a bump in security patch level to November 2019. Read More
2019 hasn't been what you'd call a huge year for smartphones. In many ways, our phones are more alike than they ever have been, and the things that set them apart are, similarly, less consequential than ever. That also doesn't mean we all agree on which phone that is. In a vote among Android Police's seven editors (plus Artem), it was a very close race. The winning phone took away four votes to the runner-up's three, and strong arguments were made for both. Read More
OnePlus has made a name for itself by providing stellar software support across its lineup. Continuing this tradition, the company announced today that it's rolling out Oxygen OS 10.0.2 to the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. Other than bug fixes, the update brings various performance optimizations to both phones, as well as a video stability enhancement to just the 7 Pro. Sadly, the 5G version is still left in the cold.
