After a brief one-month beta period, OnePlus has now begun rolling out the latest stable version of OxygenOS 5.1.0 to OnePlus 5 and 5T devices. The version is based on Android 8.1 Oreo and includes April's updated security patch.

OnePlus posts new Open Beta builds after removing them during domain change

OnePlus is good enough to provide beta versions of OxygenOS for most of its phones, but those downloads vanished yesterday. We wondered at first if there was a bug, but OnePlus claimed the removal was just because it switched to the oneplus.com domain. Now, the betas are back, but the builds are newer.

The builds are usually pretty stable, but since they are intended for testing, issues occasionally crop up. Face unlock has been in Android for years, though it recently became a hot topic again when OnePlus put it in the OnePlus 5T. The 5T's implementation is stupid quick - so quick, in fact, that you often don't even see the lockscreen before it unlocks. Now, in OxygenOS 5.0.2, the feature has made its way to the OnePlus 5 as promised. There are some other fixes/additions included as well.

OnePlus 5 and 5T owners might have woken up to a new Open Beta for their phones this morning, which is the second this month. As you might have read in the title, this update is smaller in nature, but it removes the controversial Clipboard app and addresses a few other things.

Merry (early) Christmas, OnePlus 5 owners. Oxygen OS 5.0 is now out of beta for the OnePlus 5. Not only do you get to enjoy a holiday taste of Android 8.0 Oreo, but this update also includes the latest security patches for December. The OTA is incrementally rolling out now so it could be a while before you see it, though.

OxygenOS Open Beta 3 brings face unlock to the OnePlus 5

A few days ago, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced that the OnePlus 5T's face unlock feature would arrive on the 5, "due to popular demand." The feature was not included in the phone's Oreo update, but it has now arrived in an OxygenOS Open Beta for the OnePlus 5.
