New smartphones are rolling off the line pretty regularly, and that means the tools we use to work with them have to update, too. Last month, Sunshine v3.0 emerged with support for an extensive collection of HTC and Motorola handsets, and now an update to v3.1 is about to build on that list. With the latest release, Justin Case and Beaups have added support for almost every variant of the HTC One M9, except Verizon's. Read More
The day has finally arrived. It's been a mad dash for Samsung and HTC ever since their near simultaneous announcements at MWC this year, but the HTC One M9 and Samsung Galaxy S6 are available in the US starting today. You can walk into a store and walk out with one of these phones on the carrier of your choice.
I hope you weren't too attached to that shiny new HTC One M9, at least in its capacity as the company's top-of-the-line smartphone. Just a few weeks after revealing the new M9 at Mobile World Congress, HTC has taken the wraps off of the previously-leaked One M9+. This larger and more technically advanced phone one-ups its little brother with a bigger, sharper screen, a built-in fingerprint scanner, and the return of HTC's Duo camera design. Read More
How about this? Real news on April 1st. How novel. At any rate, it's really only news for Verizon customers who want to pick up a new phone. The Samsung Galaxy S6 (standard and Edge) and HTC One M9 are both available for pre-order starting today.
Carrier phones are all well and good if you need a subsidy or trade-in payment plan to make it financially feasible, but HTC has an unlocked phone with your name on it. If you can justify $649 to buy the phone outright, you can place your order right now.
HTC is ready to take your money, or rather, it will be soon. Pre-orders for the One M9 will go live through HTC tonight at 12:01AM on March 27th. You can pick one up at various retailers and carriers when the device is officially launched on April 10th, as previously announced.
There were a few leaks of a larger version of the M9 in advance of the announcement, but it didn't show up back at MWC. Still, it looks like this phone is still going to be released in the Asian market. New images of the M9+ have been leaked, and it's not an attractive device. I realize design is subjective, but 4 out of 5 AP staffers think this is a truly ugly phone.
It looks like Robert Downey Jr and HTC are at it again, with RDJ starring in an only-slightly-bewildering series of creative short films to promote the release of the One M9.
The short films, made in a collaboration between Robert Downey Jr, Russell Scott, Brian Schaeffer, and HTC, (and "presented" by the One M9 itself) are centered around color as a unifying theme, and are meant to portray a "genre-bending series of adventures" with numerous artistic references and influences ranging - as HTC explains - from Andy Warhol to Charlie Chaplin.
In one short (Purple), RDJ bats a plastic chicken onto a canvas, somehow executing a poultry-themed homage to Warhol's prints of Marilyn Monroe. Read More
