Earlier today, some disappointing news came from Steve Kondik, CyanogenMod's founder and Cyanogen Inc.'s cofounder; because of Cyanogen Inc.'s failure, "(CyanogenMod) is very much affected." For the time being, though, CyanogenMod maintainers are still churning out new builds of CM14.1 (Android 7.1 Nougat) for many devices. We've got seven new devices with CyanogenMod 14.1 nightlies this time around (well, more like five, since two pairs of the devices are almost exactly the same).

HTC recently announced that owners of the M8 and M9 on AT&T were finally getting their upgrade to Marshmallow. That's great, but what if you haven't gotten the OTA yet or you modded your phone? Well, now there are RUU files for manual updates.

We've mentioned it before, but Mo Versi of HTC's American division is a good dude. Any given day you can find him on Twitter, answering questions from HTC customers and giving out juicy info on the next major software releases from the company. If every Android manufacturer had someone like Mo, the world would be a better place... and maybe our comment section wouldn't seem so bitter and despondent. Anyway, his latest tidbit is that the AT&T variants of the HTC One M8 and One M9 will be updated to Marshmallow starting tomorrow.

The CyanogenMod ROM development team continues to add to its ever-expanding range of officially-supported devices. Today we get a little-known variant from a huge manufacturer and a huge phone from a little-known manufacturer (outside of China, anyway): the dual-SIM version of HTC's 2014 flagship One M8, and Xiaomi's Mi4, respectively. Both are available as nightly builds on CyanogenMod's download repository.

HTC Zoes are not the kind of things that get most Android enthusiasts weak in the knees. At least, they're not what many would openly admit to loving, anyway. Zoes began as an approach to making quasi-GIFs on the HTC One M7. Then HTC expanded the brand into a social network of sorts that it opened up to other hardware. Then Zoe's original form started to disappear.

The HTC One M9 is HTC's new flagship, but there are still plenty of M8s floating around out there. Best Buy is looking to unload some stock today with a steep discount. You can get a new M8 for AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon for $299 off-contract. This deal is valid today only, or until supplies are exhausted.

Hey there, HTC One M8 owners. Wondering when your 2014 flagship will get the latest version of Android? It might be a while. According to the official HTC Twitter account for the United Kingdom, the update is scheduled for (wait for it) August of this year.

Ahhh. The feeling of spring. The sun is shining, birds are singing, and flowers are blooming. Everything feels fresh and new, and - if you are an AT&T customer who is the proud owner of an HTC M8 - things are about to get even fresher and newer. Mo Versi, Vice President of Product Management at HTC, announced this evening via Twitter that Android 5.0 Lollipop is coming to the AT&T One M8 starting tomorrow April 7. So, stretch your thumbs out tonight, because tomorrow starting at 10AM PST you can start mashing that system update button.

HTC is expected to announce the release date for the One M9 any time now, but there are some treats for those of you sticking with the M8 as well. A new version of the Dot View case app is out, and it has a ton of improvements. Also, games. Yes, games. I don't know why either.

HTC has missed the 90-day deadline it set for itself to get all recent devices updated to Lollipop, but it's not giving up. The Verizon version of the One M8 is getting Android 5.0 today, and you probably know what that means by now.

It's no mystery HTC is preparing to announce its latest flagship the One M9 in just a couple of weeks. Naturally, it's time to clear out some inventory space to make way for new products, and that means cutting prices. HTC Hot Deals is running a weekend-long sale on the RE Camera, the One M8, and a selection of custom cases.

HTC missed its 90-day goal to deliver Android 5.0 upgrades to all owners of the One M8 and One M7. They're very sorry about that. But to give credit where it's due, it does seem like the company is genuinely trying to get its hardware updated as soon as possible. Sprint's One M8 and M7 have both been given the update, European M8 owners got it in late January, and owners of the unlocked, developer edition, and Google Play Edition of both phones should all have the update by now.

While we are just starting to see the first hints of Lollipop on the HTC One M8 in the US, the rollout is already underway in other parts of the world. As is customary, HTC is now posting the open source bits of these updates on its developer page. If you want to get a look at the kernel source for the international M8 variants, this is your chance.

HTC was quick to announce Lollipop upgrade plans a few months ago, and today those plans begin to come to fruition. The first large-scale HTC rollout of Android 5.0 is starting today with the unlocked and developer edition One M8.

Update, January 7th: the eBay vendor for this listing has added new stock and lowered the price to 9.99. That's a steal for one of last year's best devices. Grab it while you can.

HTC has offered some great deals as part of it's weekly "hot deals" promo, as well as some questionable ones. This week HTC is offering to knock 20% off the price of any phone purchased from its website. These are the unsubsidized prices, so you're still looking at a few hundred bucks minimum. But hey, a deal is a deal.

Those of you with phones not made by HTC can feel free to continue on to the next post. I'm sorry to have wasted your time... I assume if you are still reading at this point, you own an HTC device. Good, those other phones suck, right? Let's say nasty things about people who own those phones behind their backs. Before that, there's an update to BlinkFeed in the Play Store.

HTC's Dot View case is a cool idea, though the quality of the accessory itself is somewhat suspect. Still, HTC gets points for doing something new. What's more, it turns out the Dot View for the One M8 still has some tricks up its heavily perforated sleeve. There's a Halloween surprise lurking in there.

The first thing HTC announced at its Double Exposure event today wasn't new hardware. No, the company was very eager to share its new software, which it has coined the EYE Experience. This term encapsulates a full range of features all aimed at making your HTC phone a better tool for taking photos.

HTC has been experimenting with different camera gimmicks lately. First there was the Ultrapixel camera in the M7, then the M8 added a second camera for simulated depth of field (that's the Duo Camera, of course). Now rumors are pointing to a new HTC device that ditches the Ultrapixel camera altogether. The M8_EYE will reportedly have a 13MP Duo Camera when it is announced next month.
