OEMs tend to include custom camera software with their phones, but they're rarely anything to write home about. The imaging app HMD Global ships on its Nokia-branded devices is something of an exception, however. An update earlier this year revived the beloved Pro Camera mode from the old Lumia phones. The latest version (90.9.1123.20) comes with a host of new goodies.

With the announcement of the Nokia 7 Plus and 8 Sirocco at MWC came the news that HMD Global was bringing back the beloved Nokia Lumia Pro Camera mode to its new devices. HMD's Juho Sarvikas even mentioned that all Nokia devices with Zeiss optics would get the Pro Camera experience, so we were left wondering if existing models might get updated with the new Camera app as well. And now we have a bit of an answer.

It's a pretty common practice for manufacturers to upload their custom system applications to the Play Store. This is done so the apps can be updated outside of Android system updates. The Nokia phones produced by HMD Global are pretty close to stock Android, but there are a few custom apps. One of these is the Camera application, which has now been published to the Play Store.
